Rumors about the release of Apple Watch 2 are circulating on the Internet for quite some time. Apple could release the next-generation watch soon as the sales of its current watch have declined.
It is reported that the sales of Apple watch have dropped by 55%. Apple released the wearable in April 2017 and it became one of its best-selling gadgets. The company sold 3.6 million unit in the first three months. But in the last quarter the company hardly managed to sell 1.2 million Apple Watches. The main reason behind the dismal sales is that buyers are waiting for the new version of Apple Watch.
According to CNN Money, a senior research analyst at IDC, Jitesh Ubrani explained, “Consumers have held off on smartwatch purchases since early 2016 in anticipation of a hardware refresh.”
Moreover, it is reported that Apple is working on the production of Apple Watch 2. Recently Digitimes has claimed that ?an insider from the supply chain has tipped that Apple has raised the order for the chips and other components of Watch 2.
?Orders for the upcoming Apple Watch have been higher-than-expected?, the source told DigiTimes. ?Judging from the orders, the sources estimated that about two million units of the new Apple Watch could be shipped monthly.?
The increase in the supply of Apple Watch components and decile in the sales of current Apple Watch is a sign that the launch of the next watch could be closer. Apple could launch Apple Watch 2 in September along with its much anticipated, MacBook Pro 2016 and iPhone 7.
Meanwhile, Apple Watch 2 is supposed to roll out with some notable changes. The new watch is supposed to pack an ARM Cortex A32 processor. New processor will boost the performance of the wearable and will increase the battery life as well. It is also expected to include a front facing camera with Facetime support. An AMOLED display could be replaced by Micro-LED panel to reduce the thickness of Apple Watch 2.
Apple is reportedly working on a new wireless chipset. The new wireless chipset would enable a “Find my Watch” feature which is said to utilise Wi-Fi router triangulation technology, as opposed to GPS.
Apple is supposed to launch Apple Watch 2 smartwatch with the price starting at around $270 while the high end model will cost approximately $400.
