Now here?s something you don?t see every day, Apple has just released their latest MacBook Air laptops, but without much hype or buzz. Apple has refreshed their line of MacBook Air notebooks and they are even dropping the prices by $100.
The notebooks will have more powerful processors as well, meaning that these new notebooks will be more powerful but at a lesser cost. The 11 inch Air that contains 128GB of storage will now sell at a starting price of $899, with other options ranging up to the 13 inch category with 256GB worth of storage at $1,199.
The new versions, according to Apple, will contain the fourth generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. These processors will work with the OS X Mavericks operating system and can provide up to 12 hours of battery life on the 13 inch models, and up to 9 hours on the 11 inch models.
There are rumors of a more radical overhaul of the popular notebook lineup later this year. Some speculations say that Apple is developing a hybrid 12 inch MacBook Air, that would perform like its larger, more powerful counterparts, while still being almost as portable as the current 11 inch version.
This move could turn out to be a really smart idea from Apple. For the longest time, users who aren?t pro Apple would commonly complain that their prices are too high, that there are more powerful PCs or laptops that can be had for a fraction of the cost, compared to what Apple had to offer. This price drop could put them into a category which appeals to even more buyers.
Phil Schiller, Apple?s Senior Vice President of Marketing said: ?With MacBook Air starting at $899, there’s no reason to settle for anything less than a Mac?. He also added that: ?Macs have never been more popular, and today we’ve boosted the performance and lowered the price of MacBook Air so even more people can experience the perfect everyday notebook?.
The latest models are now available through Apple?s Online Store as well as other select Apple authorized resellers.
