The iPhone SE is undoubtedly one of the best selling smartphones from Apple. So much so that the iPhone SE accounts for more than five percent of the overall mobile phone sales globally. Because of its popularity, many have speculated that Apple will be releasing the iPhone SE 2?during last year?s iPhone 7 event. However, fans of the phone were left disappointed as the only phones that came are the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
Now, months after the iPhone 7 release, fans are still asking whether or not they will see an iPhone SE 2 this year.
According to AppleInsider, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speculates that Apple may not release the iPhone SE 2 to protect the iPhone 7. Also, according to the same report, consumers can expect that there will be no iPhone SE 2 release this coming March as well.
However, the report did not specifically say that the smallest iPhone is totally out of the question. In fact, there is a chance that Apple is only delaying it until much later in the year. This ?is to protect the majority of sales that the iPhone 7 generates in the first few months of 2017.
That being said, there is a chance that Apple will be introducing the iPhone SE 2 some time in September 2017. This introduction could coincide with the release of the iPhone 7s, as well as the iPhone 8.
There have been rumors that Apple is toying with the idea of releasing an iPhone with a 5-inch display. It could be that the current 4.7-inch iPhone will be the next iPhone SE 2. And instead, the 5-inch will be the iPhone 7s, while the rumored 5.8-inch will become the iPhone 8.
As always, these are mere speculations. Although some of them might contain a few grams of truth, caution still needs to be exercised. Whether or not Apple will release an iPhone SE 2 this year, only Apple can tell. For now, the only thing that can be done is wait.
