Change of Policy

Apple replaced the original 30-day return policy to 14 days on iPhone devices, according to the latest Apple Store Help Web page. Customers are only allowed to return iPhones within 14 calendar days along with all accessories that originally came with the smartphones. Moreover, the device must be in excellent condition to get it to process.

It seems like that the company aligned its return policy with network carriers in the United States such as AT&T and Verizon, which are both following 14-day policy on all newly purchased smartphones.

Cause of Policy Change

Based on the point of view of 9to5Mac, Apple is having difficulties with the 30-day return policy and forces the company to reduce it to 14 days instead. The old return policy can affect customers after 14 days in terms of Early Termination Fees or any other possible penalties from network providers.

An internal document reveals that the standard return policy is different from Apple?s iPhone and other products.

?You have 14 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. For an Apple iPhone, you have 30 calendar days.?

In addition, products purchased from Apple through the Apple Online store or Apple retail store have different approach contrasting other retailers.

?Only items that have been purchased directly from Apple, either through the Apple Online Store or at an Apple Retail Store, can be returned to Apple. Apple products purchased through other retailers must be returned in accordance with their respective returns and refunds policy.?

Current Return Policy

Here are the details of the new return policy applied and imposed by Apple among their products.

  • Only items that have been purchased directly from Apple, either through the Apple Online Store or at an Apple Retail Store, can be returned to Apple. Apple products purchased through other retailers must be returned in accordance with their respective returns and refunds policy.
