Perhaps by now, Apple fans waiting for the iPhone 8 are already sold to the idea of it getting released much later this year. Earlier reports claimed that the famous tenth anniversary iPhone will be announced alongside its brethren but will get a much later official release. Now, a new report directly contradicts earlier claims and says that the iPhone 8 may also get a September release.
According to Barclays researchers, the iPhone 8 will also have an official release in September. This release will coincide with the upcoming iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. Unfortunately, it may be that the iPhone 8 will only come in limited numbers. Furthermore, shipping will most likely take weeks rather than a few days.
The report also suggested that all the iPhone releases for this year will have wireless charging built in. However, the external wireless charging device will have to be bought separately by the customers.
The Barclays report then went on to confirm much of the earlier rumored specs for the iPhone 8. According to the report, the 5.8-inch OLED display will have an active area of 5.15 inches. The remainder of the bottom of the screen will be dedicated to virtual buttons while the Touch ID sensor is embedded within the display itself.
The analysts also confirmed that the iPhone 8 will have a much larger battery thanks to its stacked logic board design. Furthermore, a 3D front-facing camera, dual rear camera setup, and a film-based Force Touch solution are also in order.
It seems like the iPhone will be this year’s iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black. For those who do not remember, Apple released the said phone last year in limited quantity. This limitation was imposed by the complexities in the manufacturing process. That said, the iPhone 8, according to suppliers, is also quite complex in terms of assembly. This is due to the fact that the phone introduced a number of changes to the original iPhone design. Because of this, apart from the limited availability, the phone will also be sold at a premium.
