Apple last unveiled its iPad Pro 9.7-inch on March 2016 which received a warm welcome in the market. Rumors have since then started of the next-gen iPad Pro 2 model, though Apple certainly hasn?t said anything about it so far. Initially it pegged to debut alongside the iPhone 7 in September. The Apple iPad Pro 2 release date is now targeted for March 2017 if rumors are to be believed.
Apple iPad Pro 2 Release Date
So far there is no official release date for the upcoming iPad Pro 2. Major tech websites point towards a March launch since the previous 9.7? Pro was released during the same month. In fact, a group of Barclays analysts also said that Apple will launch a trio of new iPad Pro models in March.
iPad Pro 2 Three Variants Release
Speculations on the next generation of tablets from the Cupertino-based tech giant have been in the forefront since the debut of the iPhone 7. Insiders reveal that Apple will focus on the iPad Pro line while moving away from its iPad Air and iPad Mini product lines.
Multiple reports have stated that the iPad Pro 2 will launch in three display variants. Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted three new iPads ranging from a 9.7-inch to a 12.9-inch to be released in 2017. His research report stated that we could expect three models– a 12.9? iPad Pro 2, a new size 10.5? iPad Pro and a low-cost 9.7? iPad.
However, Japanese website Mac Otakara, which also has a solid track record for Apple leaks, mentioned that one of Apple?s upcoming iPad models will have a 10.9-inch screen. The screen size of the middle iPad Pro model is hotly debated with reports suggesting a 10.1?, a 10.5? and a 10.9? model.
iPad Pro 2 Ditches Home Screen Button
Though the iPhone 7 retained the Home Screen button despite numerous rumors, Mac Otakara confirmed a nearly bezel-free design for the iPad Pro 10.9-inch. The report, citing supply chain sources, said that an iPad Pro 2 model without a Home Screen button is currently under development.
The 10.9-inch model will still have the same overall footprint as the current 9.7-inch iPad Pro, reports stated. The removing of the home screen button would help shrink the bezel while maintaining the same size. A top bezel will remain in order to provide space for the front-facing FaceTime camera.
However, the iPad Pro 2 model will be marginally thicker at 7.5mm, the same depth as the original iPad Air. The website further added that the 10.9-inch iPad Pro will feature quad microphones as compared to the dual-microphone setup on existing iPad Pro models. The device will also retain a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Since Apple likes to keep the same design for all its device lines, Bezel-less and lack of Home Screen button could be possible on all iPad Pro 2 models. Other rumored features include A10X processors, higher RAM configurations, updated Apple Pen functionality, OLED display panels, and much more. Still nothing of this sort is officially confirmed so take these information with a pinch of salt.
