Apple?s iPad Air 3 release date is still a few months away, but there is a plethora of rumors and leaks to keep us engaged. To be specific, the device will most likely be unveiled in October.
The general consensus is that the upcoming tablet will be much slimmer, lighter and very powerful. Apart from the Air 3, the tech giant is also expected to unveil the compact iPad Mini 5, which is believed to come with an ultra-thin chassis.
The iPad Air 2 was released towards the end of 2014 with minimal upgradation. Apple did not release a successor in 2015, although it was heavily-rumored at that point in time. Hence, the anticipation surrounding the Air 3 is sky-high.
Not to forget, the tablet market is?quite sluggish for the past couple of years. Perhaps, the iPad Air 3 release might change the dynamics.
In the run up to the release, the predecessors of iPad Air 3 have been discounted time and again on eBay, Best Buy and others. Very recently, the original iPad Air with a 9.7-inch Retina display was?discounted to $325 on eBay. E-retailers are clearing up the old stocks to make way for the brand new tablets.
Another recent report suggested that Apple will concentrate more on the 2-in-1 iPad Pro lineup, which is based on the Microsoft Surface Pro lineup. Hence, there is a possibility that the iPad Air 3 could be the last in this series.
As far as the rumored specifications go, the iPad Air 3 will reportedly be 6.1-mm thick and the display size is believed to be 9.7-inches. This screen will be complemented by the standard 2,048 x 1,536 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the latest?Apple A10 chipset, which is expected to be part of the iPhone 7 series, will apparently power this device as well.
Without any surprise,?Apple?s iOS 10 will run the slate out of the box. Wild rumors suggest that 3D Touch/Force Touch feature will be part of the upcoming tablet. However, this feature did not make it to the iPad Pro lineup. Hence, it is safe to assume that the iPad Air 2 successor may not get this feature.
As we are expecting the device to be slimmer than the predecessor, there is a good chance that the battery capacity might be marginally reduced to get the desired look. However, at this point, this is just a speculation.
Other expected iPad Air 3 features include a fingerprint scanner, with or without the ?full-fledged? Apple Pay support. Apple has also been rumored to get rid of the 16GB variant for good. This means the base version could be 32GB.
Speaking of price,?Trusted Reviews says that the iPad Air 3 will set the buyers back by ?399 (starting price). The high-end variant will apparently retail at ?559. These are the standard iPad debut prices in the U.K. When it comes to the U.S., the price usually starts at $399.
