Red Dead Redemption Voice Actor Anthony Cumia Fired Over Racist Remarks on Twitter

By on

Radio DJ Anthony Cumia was fired last week by his employer SiriusXM after making a chain of racial remarks on his Twitter account Wednesday night. Cumia is the other half of the ?Opie & Anthony? program.

?SiriusXM has terminated its relationship with Anthony Cumia of the ?Opie & Anthony? channel,? said Patrick Reilly, the media relations manager of the radio broadcaster.

?The decision was made, and Cumia informed, late Thursday, July 3, after careful consideration of his racially-charged and hate-filled remarks on social media. Those remarks and postings are abhorrent to SiriusXM, and his behavior is wholly inconsistent with what SiriusXM represents.?

Although the tweets have been already deleted, the dispute began while he was taking photos in Times Square when an African-American woman refused to being photographed. According to Cumia, the argument escalated until the woman reacted violently and a group of men acting on the woman?s behalf allegedly assaulted him.

He then tweeted a volley of racial comments targeting the woman and even called her ?an animal pig face worthless meat sack.?

When asked by one of his Twitter followers why he didn?t report it to the police, Cumia replied ?Because I can take some punches w/out wasting the cops? time.?

Cumia didn?t take his employer’s decision lightly though.

?Sirius decided to cave and fire me. Welcome to bizarro world. Fired for s***, that wasn?t even on the air & wasn?t illegal. So, who?s next?? he tweeted after hearing the news.

Unsurprisingly, this is not the first that Cumia got into such a controversy. In 1998, Cumia and his buddy Greg ?Opie? Hughes also got fired by their employer by performing an April Fools stunt wherein they joked about a mayor?s death. In 2003, the tandem made another stunt named ?Sex for Sam,? in which people who participated will have sex in public in exchange for prizes. This resulted to the cancellation of their gig in New York?s WNEW.

If you have played Rockstar Games? Red Dead Redemption, then you might also be familiar with Cumia. He performed the voice role of gunsmith Jeb Murphy in 2010.

As of the moment, there are?no updates about the plans of Cumia and his partner about their radio show.
