Marvel just confirmed a new Ant-Man and the Wasp movie for 2018. And Marvel has just added another set of new movies on their Phase 3 line-up as well.
That?s right, there will be a second Ant-Man movie that is being planned and will extend the Phase 3 line-up. Ant-Man made its debut this year as a conclusion to Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It focuses on Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd), who taking charge of being Ant-Man from Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) along with Hank?s daughter, Hope van Dyne becoming the Wasp after the revelation on the post-credit scene where Hank shows the Wasp prototype suit that his wife, Jane van Dyne used.
Instead of being titled as Ant-Man 2 or Ant-Man plus a subtitle, it will be formally called Ant-Man and The Wasp. This will be the first Marvel Studio movie that will be named after a heroine, Ant-Man will also make an appearance at the upcoming Captain America: Civil War movie in May 2016. The new Ant-Man movie will premiere on July 6, 2018, this prompts some of the originally scheduled films in 2018 to move early or pushed farther to give way, this include Black Panther moving from July 2018 to February 16, 2018 and Captain Marvel from October 2018 to March 8, 2019.
Aside from Ant-Man and The Wasp, there will be three more movies to be added in the Marvel Cinematic Universe line-up, thought the titles were not announce yet, these three will be released in May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020. The Inhumans movie is supposed to be the last Phase 3 film which is slated for a 2019 release, there are no details if the three new movies will be part of Phase 3 or will start the Phase 4 line-up. Hopefully we could get more news later as New York Comic Con 2015 kicks off its event today.
