Anime Awards 2016: Animation of the Year Goes To Love Live! The School Idol Movie; Full List of Winners Announced

Anime Awards 2016 were announced and we hope your favorites have made it! These are from the results of the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2016 (TAAF). It is an international animation film festival aimed at promoting animation.

The Tokyo Anime Award began way back 2002 and was officially named three years after. The first three events were simply called ?Competition.? The judges include various talents from anime staff, university professors, producers and chief editors of anime magazines.

The candidates are all anime released in Japan from December 1 of the year beforehand to November 30 of the previous year. One of the recognitions being given is the Animation of the Year Award. It has two categories- television and movies.

This year, Love Live! The School Idol Movie?obtained the Animation of the Year award for the film category. For television, Shirobako is the Animation of the Year. There is also a Fan Award, which was given to Gintama this year.
