A new custom launcher on Google Play called SWApp Launcher promises to make your Android Wear smartwatch ?smarter.? Learn more about its features below.
What SWApp Launcher can do
This launcher packs a lot of features and is apparently cool enough that the XDA Developers site decided to include it in it?s portal news feed. ?SWApp allows you to launch apps on your watch, perform actions on both watch & phone, as well as remotely open applications on your Android phone using your smartwatch. That last functionality is interesting since we usually use our handset to control our wearable devices and not the other way around.
Actions and features
Upon installing the launcher, you will get three panels of shortcuts on your watch. You can swipe right or left to change them. In this XDA forum thread, the developer mentioned that SWApp Launcher can deliver the following actions.
On your watch:
- Keep Screen On once or forever. If set it to ?once?, it will revert to normal if you manually shut down the screen. Otherwise, the next time you turn the screen on it will stay on indefinitely.
- Flashlight: Since ANdroid Wear devices have yet to to be equipped with LED flash, this feature only displays a white screen on the device.
On your phone:
- Toggle Wifi on/off
- Toggle Wifi Hotspot on/off
- Toggle Silent/Normal/Vibrate

How to install and use SWApp Launcher
The launcher is free to download and install right from its Play Store listing. It weighs 6.8MB and requires Android version 4.2 and above. The dev noted that right after installation, you need to wait for some time until the launcher is done adding all the shortcuts. You can also launch SWApp from anywhere within your watch by simply swiping from the border.
