Android Marshmallow Release Date For Phones: Is Your Gadget Ready For The Update?

By on

The newest Android version is just around the corner, but is your phone ready for the upgrade?

The Android Marshmallow is already out, but only the Nexus users can get a direct update from Google. However there is a turnaround for that problem, but this could only work with smartphones that are unlocked, meaning those that are not purchased through a carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, etc.) which are usually locked in their respective phone carrier lines. If you are using a locked phone, you can just wait for an update from your carrier though it may take a while. Thanks to Greenbot for the guide

So here are the list of phone models per brand that could be getting the Marshmallow upgrade

  • Nexus 5
  • Nexus 6
  • Nexus 7 (2013, Wi-Fi and LTE models)
  • Nexus 9
  • Nexus Player

You will be getting the OTA updates, all you have to do is just wait for any push notifications on your Nexus phones and it is ready for download. Or if you are in a hurry, you can download it by yourself

  • Galaxy Note 5
  • Galaxy S6
  • Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Galaxy S6 Edge+

It may take a while before Samsung releases the Marshmallow on their supported models, it could be around next year.

  • 2015 Moto X Pure Edition
  • 2015 Moto G

  • 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE

It may take a while for the Marshmallow to be available, similar with Samsung?s. Unfortunately some models, such as the Moto E, will not support Marshmallow.

  • LG G4
  • LG G3

A fewer models are supported compared to the other brands. But expect the V10 and G4 to get the updates first.

  • Xperia Z3 Compact
