The Android 7.0 Nougat is officially out now with rollout to Nexus devices starting today?but it will be a while before the update makes it to the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi?s line of Android devices.
The first in line of Xiaomi devices to get Android updates include the Mi5, Mi Max, Mi 4 and Redmi Note 3 and reports suggest that the roll-out will begin sometime in 2017. Other devices listed to receive update include Mi 4s, Redmi 2 Prime, Mi 4i, Mi 4c, and Note Pro.
However, Xiaomi has been known to be poor at rolling out new updates as still few of their devices are yet to get the Android 6.0 M update. It is expected that the company will be working on the release of their next updates only after Android Marshmallow OTA is complete.
Also the android devices feature the company?s own MIUI interface, so it is likely going to take some time to develop MIUI based on the latest Android 7.0. Xiaomi announced at its forums, that it has officially obtained the Android N source code from Google and has begun development of MIUI 9 based on the 7.0 OS.
Meanwhile, the good news is the company that MIUI 8 update is available now.
