As it turns out, the Android 7.0 Nougat update is causing hardware issue in ?some? Google Nexus 5X units.
The main reason for buying a Nexus handset is to enjoy the stock Android experience and the on-time monthly firmware updates. Google?s Nexus devices are the first set to receive the next major version of the OS every single year.
But, this year, Google allowed LG to take the spotlight. The LG V20 is the first device to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The upcoming Google Pixel and Pixel XL, which were once referred as Nexus 2016 devices, will reportedly run the next version Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. The search giant recently confirmed the release date of these devices as October 4.
At the same time, Google already started rolling out the main version i.e. Android 7.0 Nougat to all the eligible Android devices, especially the Nexus branded ones. This includes the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, but not the once-prominent Nexus 5 as it already crossed the two-year service period.
However, some of the Nexus 5X owners that updated their device to Android 7.0 Nougat are facing ?random reboots.?
The Nougat update reportedly triggers a hardware issue with a bunch of Nexus 5X handsets. Sure, we do not know the exact number of devices facing this problem as people started noticing the issue very recently.
However, the good thing is that Google is already aware of this critical issue. But then, there is really no fix available right now. So the device should either be replaced or repaired.
Not to forget, this year has really been not very kind to the OEMs as it is mired with recalls and repairs. Samsung started this trend with the Galaxy Note 7 recall due to battery issues. This was followed by Apple with its iPhone 7, where users faced whining sound from under the hood. And now, Google is stuck with Nexus 5X.
Coming to Nexus 5X,?Google says the following: ?We understand that a very small number of users are experiencing a bootloop issue on the Nexus 5X. We are continuing to investigate the situation, but can confirm that this is strictly a hardware related issue. For those of you that are currently experiencing this, please contact your place of purchase for warranty or repair options. We?re sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your continued patience.?
Are you facing issues with Nexus 5X after updating to Android 7.0 Nougat? If so, feel free to leave a comment.
