Android 7.0 Nougat Official Release This August? Which Phones To Get First Update?

By on

Reports suggest that Google?s newest mobile operating system, the Android 7.0 Nougat, will be released next Monday, Aug. 22.

According to sources, Canadian telecoms operator Telus will start pushing the updates on the said date. Nexus 5X and 6P will be able to take advantage of the early release. Coincidentally, this is the same launch date that LG has announced for the G5.

According to LG?s Korean social media website, the company will do a limited release for the Android 7.0 Nougat. This ?preview? is so limited that only 2000 G5 users from Korea will be able to take advantage of it.

For those who do not know, Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest mobile operating system offering from Google. When Google went on stage for this year?s I/O 2016, they still did not have a name for the operating system. Back then, it was just known as Android N. Immediately after that, Google launched a naming campaign and eventually the name Nougat won. And that?s how it came to be known as Android 7.0 Nougat.

This new operating system boasts a lot of improvements compared to its predecessor. Top of which is the multi-window support. This feature will enable users to view two apps running side-by-side. Another improvement is deeper support for direct reply where users can use the notification area to reply to messages.

Whether these reports about the early Android 7.0 Nougat release are true or not, users only need to wait a little bit longer. Perhaps, some ?Android-based mobile device users will be very lucky indeed to get the update earlier than expected. ?At the moment, Google is still remaining tight-lipped about the subject matter. However, subscribers claim that Telus was accurate with last year?s launch-date announcement for the Android Marshmallow on Nexus devices.

Unfortunately for the new Nexus phones, they would have to wait for the LG V20 before they could get their Android 7.0 Nougat. The V20 will be launched in San Francisco on Sept. 6, a day ahead of the rumored iPhone 7 release.
