Android 5.0 What? Will It Be Lemon Cheesecake Or Lollipop? Guess The L Word !

The development of the Android OS is not only going ahead at lightning speed, but in a very fun and delightful manner as well.

Recently, the launching of the Android OS version known as 4.4 KitKat was supposed to be carrying the moniker of ?Key Lime Pie? but the developers chose to stick to the KitKat tag for that update.

In the rumored Android 5.0 however, the developers are reported to follow the Android tradition of coming up with a new name in the order of the alphabet.

In this case, the letter ?L? is next in line.

Whether the next update would indeed be a version 5.0 or merely a 4.5, Android fans have been all excited about the new ?L? word that will be presented by Google for this OS version.

For the past few years, the announcement of a new Android OS name has been met with much amusement, if not some disdain, by many Android users. It is pretty much the same in the case of Android version 5.0 .

As of now, the L word that is being used by many in the tech media, is the name ?Lollipop?to refer to the update, although the term ?Lemon Cheesecake?, is also rumored to be a possible choice. Until it is officially announced by Google, the name is still up in the air.

For those who are not familiar with the previous Android OS version names, here is a quick run through of the past OS versions.

  • Android 1.5: Cupcake
  • Android 1.6: Donut
  • Android 2.0.1: Eclair
  • Android 2.2: Froyo
  • Android 2.3:Gingerbread
  • Android 3.0: Honeycomb
  • Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Android 4.1: Jelly Bean
  • Android 4.4: KitKat

As I mentioned, after E,F,G,H,I,J and K, the letter L will be the basis of the new version name that Google will release. As you may have noticed, Google has maintained the practice of choosing names from the universe of yummy ?desserts?.

Android 5.0 will be no exception.

In this respect, a number of tech articles have presented the following choices aside from Lollipop and Lemon Cheesecake. It should be noted that the ?Lemon? flavor has become a favorite option not only because it does have a delicious taste, but it is fortunate enough to be an ?L? name.

A few of them are:

  • Lemon Chiffon Cake
  • Lime Pie
  • Lemon Pie
  • Lemon Meringue Pie
  • Lettuce Salad (Is this a dessert? How did this get suggested? )

I would humbly suggest my own preferences:

  • Lamington (a touch of Aussie flavor)
  • Ladyfinger
  • Lane Cake
  • Lekach (Jewish Honey Cake)

Your guess is as good as mine, although I would not be surprised if Google pulls another ?Nestle? stunt in the same manner it released KitKat last year.

Are we looking at a ?Lindt? Android OS? Who knows?

The Android 5.0 is reported to be unveiled sometime in the mid 2014 and should coincide with the launch of the Nexus 6 smartphone. This Android version is expected to be in this latest Google device as well as other Android gadgets, especially the upcoming wearables from a number of manufacturers.

What is your preference for the Android 5.0?

Or do you have an ?L? dessert in mind that Google can use?

Do tell us, here at The Bitbag.
