It?s really over: Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have parted ways for good.
According to PEOPLE, the pair broke up months ago but they remain close and are on good terms. “There was no drama, they’ve been apart while working. They still care about each other,” the source said.
One of Hollywood?s most adorable couples, the pair met on the set of ?The Amazing Spider-Man? back in 2011. PEOPLE also reported in April that the couple took a break from the relationship.
Garfield wasn?t at Stone?s side at this year?s Golden Globes and Academy Awards because he was busy shooting?for the Martin Scorsese film??Silence? in Taiwan. “He’s thrown himself in the project to the detriment of all else,” a source said to PEOPLE about Garfield?s work on the film. The actress starred in the film ?Birdman? where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
The couple tried to be low-key about their relationship and rarely talked about it during interviews.
?I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason ? because it’s all so speculative and baseless,” Stone previously told the?Wall Street Journal. “I understand the interest in it completely, because I’ve had it, too. But it’s so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don’t talk about it.”
?Working with Emma was like diving into a thrilling, twisting river and never holding on to the sides. From the start. To the end. Spontaneous. In the moment. Present. Terrifying. Vital. The only way acting with someone should be,” Garfield previously said.
?He is such a poet,? Stone commented when she sat down with Diane Keaton for Interview back in May. ?But that’s the way he writes in general. So I hear it and of course my heart swells up. And I also know that he writes things like that on a daily basis.”
