While some fans are still undecided about American Horror Story: Roanoke, the majority are already hyped about the series’ upcoming seventh season currently dubbed Election Night. Too bad last season’s First Supreme, Lady Gaga, is skipping the affair. Sadly, there seems to be no hope of Jessica Lange returning to the series as well. Calm yourself, and count to 10 if you have to, but there’s no need to worry that much because there are new faces tipped to be coming to fill in their shoes.
At the Television Critics Association press tour, producer Ryan Murphy confirmed that Lady Gaga wouldn’t join any anthology series anytime soon. “She’s very busy this next year — she’s doing Super Bowl and then she’s doing A Star Is Born and I believe that she’s going on tour,” the showrunner said. The statement came amidst rumors that she is going to play Gianni’s sister, Donatella Versace on the sister show, American Crime Story.
Murphy further explained that boarding his show is a five-month commitment. “It’s a very big show, we’re shooting it all over the world. So I just don’t think with her schedule, I knew that it would never [have] worked. But I would love to work with her on something in the future.”
Murphy already found her Donatella in Penelope Cruz, but he has yet to pick who could replace the Born This Way singer on AHS. If the reports are anything to go by, though, it could be Taissa Farmiga’s sister, Vera.
American Horror Story Season 7 Cast: Potential Newcomers
According to Celebdirtylaundry, Murphy previously expressed his interest in adding the 43-year-old actress to the cast and even implied that an offer had been made. Now, fans are hoping that Vera Farmiga would board the show.
Vera has just ended her stint as Norma Bates on A&E’s Bates Motel. Playing the role of Norma, she showcased her acting ability and she is no stranger to spooky situations. In fact, she is most famously notable for her Conjuring films, where she plays real-life paranormal investigator, Lorraine Warren.
Then again, we’re still awaiting her confirmation. If we don’t get one this season, perhaps she’ll join the series in the future seasons. After all, FX has already renewed AHS until Season 9.
Meanwhile, Murphy may have already picked who could give back the series the star power it lost when Jessica Lange departed: Glenn Close. The Hollywood super-producer posted a photo with the actress recently captioning, “One of my dreams is to work with this legend and I’m gonna make that dream come true!” The simple sentence has fans hoping that the project in question is American Horror Story Season 7. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
New Masked Monster
Apart from the two, there could be another new character introduced next season. The EP recently dropped some creepy new concept art for Season 7, featuring a smiling elephant clown.
Whether this represents a character in a grotesque mask or someone who is a literal (and apparently deformed) were-elephant remains unclear. But Movie Pilot predicts AHS Season 7 could place the animal hybrid under the control of others just like the Minotaur from Coven and the Piggy Man in Roanoke. We can recall the magic of Marie Laveau and The Blood Moon reanimated both monsters respectively before terrorizing the likes of Queenie and Shelby.
Either way, there will likely be a political commentary accompanying the beastie given the political symbolism at hand. Perhaps the smiling elephant monster works under the control of the ‘evil’ Republican party or a certain group designed to symbolize their political ideology.
No Donald Trump & Hillary Clinton Characters
Murphy has also clarified that neither Trump nor Clinton will be portrayed by actors in the season. Rather, they will only appear through TV as the season kicks off on the night of the latest US Presidential election.
“The first 10 minutes of the season, this season, takes place in a very eerie macabre way on election night and there’s something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on election night as they’re watching it all go down,” the producer said.
So far, the confirmed cast includes Billie Lourd, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Billy Eichner. American Horror Story Season 7 is expected to return mid-September.
