American Gods TV Cast, Air Date, Spoilers: Latest Characters Revealed

By on

Starz?s American Gods is still months away from its premiere which will give us enough time to talk about it and the recent news about the upcoming TV series. Here are some of the latest ones.

One of the most recent addition to the cast of the series is Dane Cook (Good Luck Chuck, London, Employee of the Month). The actor is going to portray the role of Shadow Moon?s friend. Shadow Moon, on the other hand, is going to be played by Ricky Whittle. Ian McShane will also take part in the series playing the character Mr. Wednesday.

Speaking of characters, one of the most intriguing goddess included in the series is Bilquis (Yetide Badaki). She is an ancient goddess of love who carves worship and is featured in the original novel?s most controversial scenes. But that would not be it for the character because according to showrunner Bryan Fuller, Bilquis is going to have an expanded role in the series.

?One of the exciting things for us in adapting this is that we get to expand characters, so Bilquis, who is only a chapter of the book, then you don?t see her again, is a major player in this world,? Fuller told Den of Geek.

Another character that was recently revealed is Technical Boy, to be played by Bruce Langley.

American Gods is about a brewing war between the ancient gods and the new ones, Langley?s role belongs to the new deities that symbolises modern society?s obsession with technology.

?We needed to establish the frame of reference for the aesthetic of the Technical Boy, and [director] David Slade, I believe, was the first one to say ?Commodore 65,?? said Fuller during a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly. ?That will mean more to the audience once they understand more of the Technical Boy?s story – why the Commodore 64 and that era of technology is so informative for the look of him and the story and the general aesthetic we first sample his world,? he added.

American Gods is an adaptation of Neil Gaiman?s novel. It will feature Shadow Moon as the protagonist. He is an ex-con who will become the bodyguard and travelling partner of Mr. Wednesday, a con man and one of the older gods that goes to different countries to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new gods.
