AMD Radeon RX 500 Releasing Next Year Instead of RX 490

Following the release of the AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card, many users began to speculate the release of a GPU upgrade. There have been rumors that the upcoming GPU, the AMD Radeon RX 490, will be the first with Vega 10 architecture. However, recent events seem to shed more light on the rumored AMD Radeon RX 500 series of GPUs.

It seems that AMD is planning on releasing a new range of graphics cards next year instead of the hyped RX 490.?A recent post on Twitter alludes to the new GPU architecture and its related hardware. According to the post, AMD will be unveiling the new Vega 10 architecture some time in January 2017.

For months now, AMD has been known to be working on a new GPU architecture dubbed the Vega 10. It also managed to demo the new GPU hardware on several occasions including during its New Horizon Event in Austin, Texas.

In both events, AMD sampled the new GPU hardware with the highest possible video settings. At a limited event held in Germany, some invitees were privy to some information about how the upcoming GPUs perform. The said event placed the new architecture side by side with an overclocked NVIDIA GTX 1080. Event without proper drivers, the graphics card performed quite well. In fact, it ran at least 10 percent better than the competition.

In the recently concluded AMD New Horizon event, the chip maker showcased the new Vega 10 GPUs as an added bonus. The event showed a demo version of the GPU running Star Wars: Battlefront in 4K gaming mode.

If rumors are true, gamers could be looking at AMD Radeon RX 500 graphics cards as early as during the Consumer Electronics Show 2017. There have been news of late that AMD will officially unveil its newest GPU architecture during the CES. The said event will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from January 3 to 8.
