The Amanda Knox Netflix documentary is directed by Tribeca Audience award-winning director Rod Blackhurst and Brian McGinn, who had already obtained an award from the International Documentary Association. The Amanda Knox Case in Real Life
The controversial case of Knox started when the lifeless body of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, was found in the apartment they were sharing. Her then-boyfriend, Sollecito, was said to be an alleged accomplice in the murder.
Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison. Cases filed against her include sexual violence and murder. Sollecito, on the other hand, received 25 years. In 2010, ?Knox and Sollecito appealed the decision, citing some errors with the initial investigation. The duo was released.
However, in 2013, Knox and Sollecito were retrieved again by the Supreme Court of Cassation after the two were found guilty for the second time. Supreme Court of Cassation is Italy?s highest court.
After spending another two years in prison, the same court accepted the ultimate appeal from the two. In 2015, the case was found to be without foundation.
Another person by the name of Rudy Guede was found guilty for Kercher?s case. He is currently serving 16 years in an Italian prison. Guede is not part of the highly anticipated Netflix documentary which will be released in a few days to retell the trials and retrials in the life of Knox.
