Alcatel?s latest flagship phone Idol 4S is re-launching with a Windows 10 operating system. Although already available as an Android variant, Windows powered Idol 4S, will be available exclusively through T-Mobile starting Nov. 10. Priced for $469, which is about $19.50/month, Alcatel Idol 4S is Microsoft?s other attempt to bring its Windows mobile platform to the forefront.

Windows 10 Continuum & Virtual Reality

Alcatel Idol 4S serves Microsoft?s ambition of showcasing a high-end phone running the Windows 10 Mobile OS. It supports virtual reality with a VR headset included with the device. It is also the first Windows phone to support VR.

With Windows 10 mobile OS, users, who do work on their handsets while on the go, can easily move that work at their destination to a compatible computer by using the Microsoft Continuum feature. The Continuum feature essentially allows converting the smartphone to a PC. This is done by connecting the device to a full size keyboard, mouse and monitor. Users will also have access to Microsoft Office apps and regular software updates directly from Microsoft.

Display and Processor

The Alcatel Idol 4S (Windows 10) comes with a 5.50-inch touchscreen Full HD display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. The phone is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and it comes with 4GB RAM. The phone packs a 64GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.


The Idol 4S includes a 21MP main rear-facing camera that is equipped with a Sony IMX230 image sensor, as well as an 8MP front-facing selfie camera that uses an 84-degree wide-angle lens. The rear main camera also includes fast-focus and a dedicated camera button to capture images better. The smartphone is capable of shooting 4K video at 30fps.


Battery & Others

Powered by a 3000mAh non removable battery, the device gives up to 20 hours of talk time. Also, it featuring Qualcomm? Quick Charge? 3.0 technology, which provides a full charge in about 90 minutes using a USB-C connection. Included in the phone are dual 1.2W multi-directional speakers featuring Hi-Fi audio for a more immersive sound experience.

The Alcatel Idol 4S (Windows 10) is a dual SIM (GSM) mobile and other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 4G. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope. The device comes in Rose Gold, Black and Pink measuring 153.90 x 75.40 x 6.99 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 152.00 grams.
