Gamon Sakurai’s Ajin-Demi Human manga?acquired the green light for the much anticipated live action film. Set in Tokyo, Japan in 2017, the film will be directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro (Psycho-Pass, Space Travelers, Bayside Shakedown) and stars Takeru Satoh (Kenshin Himura). Kei, the main character in the film, will play the role of a medical intern. According to the Anime News Network, his age is matched to that of Takeru Satoh.
Satoh is a fan of the Ajin-Demi Human manga, hence his interest to play the role of Kei. Also, the film is rumored to have invited the team that created Rurouni Kenshin to help work on the new project. Apart from the live action adaptation of the manga series, Ajin-Demi Human has also inspired several versions such as a 3D CG anime film trilogy, three original anime DVDs and two television anime seasons.

This is the fourth Ajin film series. The first one, entitled ?Ajin: Sh?d??, arrived in Japan on November 2015. On May 6, the second film entitled ?Ajin Shototsu? opened. Lastly, ?Ajin: Shogeki?, opened in Japan on September 23.
The Ajin-Demi Human manga synopsis says ?An immortal first appeared on an African battlefield 17 years ago. Later, rare, unknown new immortal lifeforms began appearing among humans, and they became known as “Ajin” (demi-humans). Just before summer vacation, a Japanese high school student named Kei Nagai is instantly killed in a traffic accident on his way home from school. However, he is revived, and a price is placed on his head. Thus begins a boy’s life on the run from all of humankind.?
Gamon Sakurai launched the Ajin manga series on Kodansha’s good! Afternoon magazine in 2012. In the latest Japanese comic ranking for Oct. 31-Nov. 6, the Ajin manga ranked 34, with the top 5 spots occupied by ?One Piece,? ?Bleach,? ?My Hero Academia,? ?Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma? and ?Gintama.?
