A new villain pulled straight from the comic book will be battling Agent Peggy Carter. This new villain for the second season will be no other than Madame Masque. Originally a nemesis to Iron Man, Madame Masque will have a major role in Agent Carter. What?s interesting for the new villain is that the character was created in 1969 and set on that current time period, bringing Madame Masque to the 1940?s will be a big challenge for the producers of the series.
In the comic book version, Madame Masque was the daughter of an infamous crime lord of Marvel?s version of the Mafia (which is called Maggia) that followed his footsteps. But she did not stayed long in becoming a villain in the comics, she occasionally turn her back against her bosses just for the sake of saving the world, she also has some romantic relationships with Iron Man in previous comic book stories. In a much recent timeline, the Madame has a major role in the Hawkeye comics, where she has some sort of bad blood with the second Hawkeye; which was Kate Bishop at that time.
When asked about the changes to Madame Masque to make her fit in the 40?s, executive producer Tara Butter explained during an interview with /Film that there will be changes on the background story as well as with the physical appearance.
Tara: I think we?ve changed the look of her a bit obviously. We?ve made her an actress, which is very Hedy Lamar. She was a ?40s siren actress who was also a scientific genius, so that?s part of what we?re mining with this character.
It would be interesting to see how the story unfolds for the new season and see more story development for Peggy Carter like if she would get a new love interest after Captain America was supposed to be dead at that time.
Ready your seatbelt for another awesome action packed season when season two of Marvel?s Agent Carter in 2016
