The game was so bad, the publishers decided to remove it and apologizes to the gamers.
Now if only this kind of situations would happen to some games that were terrible. Versus Evil, the team behind the Afro Samurai 2 game, has just pulled out the game from the PSN and Steam game platforms on November 8. But instead of just removing the existence of the game from the digital stores, they also removed it from the libraries of players who purchased it and were given a full refund.
And just recently, Versus Evil has announced a statement in regards to Afro Samurai 2, in addition to the refund and removal, it has also been revealed that both second and third installment of the game was also cancelled. Afro Samurai 2 was originally planned to become an episodic game.
CG Magazine had a chance to interview GM Steve Escalante in regards to the cancellation of the Afro Samurai 2 games. In his statement, he said:
?The game was a failure. We could not do, in good conscience, volume 2 and volume 3. So we?ve begun the process, it?s been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way, but we?re returning all the money. So across the board we?re putting out an apology saying ?sorry about this…We?re Versus Evil; a company perspective, from a partnership perspective and now we have to do it from a consumer perspective. So we pulled it down, because we didn?t want to exacerbate it anymore and then we?re refunding the money.?
Afro Samurai 2 received a lot of negative reviews, mostly the game was filled with bugs and glitches, very linear gameplay, poor audio and uninspiring combat system. Looking at the user reviews on Steam, you can see how horrible the game came out to be, well good thing Versus Evil was smart enough to pull it out from the store.
