A Review of Torchlight 2 Mods

We have seen Torchlight 2 as a very able alternative to Diablo 3. It is as Pro Evolution Soccer is to FIFA Soccer. While it may not be as popular nor is it as talked about, Torchlight 2 is still able to hold a torch to Diablo 3 simply because farming for experience and weapons in this game is not as hard and as complicated as it is in Diablo 3.

It maybe because Diablo 3 is being developed by Blizzard, a game studio with a lot of history, thanks to past titles. Many of you may remember WarCraft, StarCraft, and Diablo as some of the more illustrious titles in Blizzard?s arsenal. Runic Games, on the other hand, seems to be a relative newcomer. Few people do actually know Torchlight, if they know it at all. However, thanks to the game constantly making Diablo 3 pay for its shortcomings, Torchlight 2 manages to fight back, and is enjoying a fair popularity.

As far as dungeon crawlers go, Torchlight 2 is not, by any means, lacking. There is plenty of action available as you walk through dungeons, caves, in search for leveled artifacts. Still, gamers may find the vanilla game lacking. That?s what these mods are here for.

Haven?t you found the vanilla game easy, perhaps, too easy for you? Well then, here is a mod that changes that. That?s not all that it changes, though. Among the many additions are three new classes that make the game more suitable for different playstyles. There is the Necromancer, a hybrid spellcaster/fighter, the Paladin with his strong offense and even stronger defense, and the Warlock, a duo chargebar using mageknight. Notice that these three classes are a remodel of the three classes from Diablo.

-?????? Thrasher?s Armory, StruktO

This is a mod aimed on providing loot and even more loot in-game. They found Torchlight 2?s loot system lacking, and so they decided to make even more loot. Aside from weapons, it adds more armor and socketables to the game. Some of these are even inspired by other action RPGs and even traditional weaponry in real life. The best part of the mod may be the customization part, also known as the transmuter expansion, which allows for a 4+ ingredient to exist.

-?????? Human Enemies, jordan0422

The mod actually makes sense. Since the trouble wreaked by the Dark Alchemist has left many panting in his wake, then it also paves the way for more like-minded individuals to wreak havoc as well. What may have been lacking in the vanilla game is made up for by this mod, which features different humanoid NPC opponents. There are also rogue versions of the characters already existing as playable characters, with random appearances and drops.

-?????? Playable Werewolf Class, CD

What would be a good RPG without werewolves? The mod?s creator saw that quandary arise within the world of Torchlight 2, and so he added in a dash of werewolf. The only shortcoming of the mod is that currently, the werewolf can only be a melee character. Since when have you seen a ranged werewolf? The werewolf is currently still equippable with armor and weapons, the only problem being that it will not show on the character?s avatar.

-?????? Amber Helm Keep, Nehrah

A world-addition mod. Amber Helm Keep is a dungeon that will spawn in the Ossean Wastes, providing the player a reason to come back in the area even if the radiant quest for it is already done.
