League of Legends S6 Thresh Guide: How to Maximize your Abilities (Part 2)

By on

Flay is most useful for its stats, and works well with a slow such as your ultimate. Flay can also be used as a powerful disengage ability. If they are getting too close knock them back (flay them forward). Try not to get too close to do this. Here is a video on what you can cancel using your flay. You can cancel jumps and dashes midair if you time it well.

Flay should be focussed on in upgrading, as it’s passive can have devastating effects. You deal extra damage for one hit, and this is used well as you can poke down squishy ADCs with small range (see Vayne) but is less useful when going against Caitlyn (NOTE: Caitlyn is still weak to this. If you get her close, she can’t do much. Bait out her escape net, and land a hook before flaying, then land your auto attacks). Flay is most useful for stats, and works well with a slow such as your ultimate. More about that below. Flay can also be used as a powerful disengage. If they are getting too close for comfort, knock them back. Try not to get too close to do this.

R: The Box: You can either use it perfectly, or place it for no reason and totally waste it. This ult applies a 99% slow to the enemy but only if they hit the wall. Why would you hit the wall you might ask? In low elo, it is common for their team to totally ignore everything and run. They will just run straight into it for no reason other than its running, why need a reason to. If this isn’t the case, and you’re going against someone who has their whole brain functioning for them, then you need to drag them through the wall with your Q, then E backwards to at least hit the wall. It’s also effective as an disengage in a team fight. It takes up most of the lane, so when running away, pop this up. If there are anyone lower than 300 HP, Hook them and drag them to the wall. Your team can have some safe pokes too if that?s the case.

Some easy to Master Tips:

Engaging:

Q, W any close team mates if necessary.

Q the enemy, press Q again, pop ult and flay the enemy to your ult.

Q an enemy, W a team mate in, pop Ult and flay them into it. Use any item actives that you see fit.

Disengaging:

E forwards (make sure you face the enemy), W for shield

Q the enemy champ trying to get close to your ADC and flay them away.

Pop ult, W for shield and mobility, E forwards. Use item actives as you see fit.
