The 12 Monkeys Season 2 finale spoilers indicate that The Witness will finally be revealed. The Season 2 finale trailer teases the revelation of The Witness while a dark, hooded figure walks in.
Fans are heavily anticipating the reveal of The Witness who is the one who collapses time, steers the Red Forest into the world, and spreads the plague that wipes out almost the entire human race.
Now, who could be The Witness? true identity? According to Design & Trend, the most popular fan theory suggests that The Witness is Cassie and James Cole?s child which really makes a lot of sense and even answers the mystery of the harbinger of doom. He/she appears to be fond of Cassie and doesn?t want to kill James so this makes sense if they are his/her the parents.
Other clues that support the theory is that his/her ability to time travel without a machine could only be possible if his/her parents are both time travellers, and Cassie and James being his/her parents fit the bill. Another clue is the significance of the white house to The Witness. It may be important to him/her because it is possibly where he/she grew up in.
However, a writing found by Olivia in the house said, ?1957-1959 ? This Was Home.? And the only person who was living in the white house that time was James. This means that he could possibly be The Witness, and not the child.
If James is the owner of the house, then it makes a lot of sense if it will be revealed that he is in fact The Witness. His love for Cassie might have urged him to take the identity of The Witness in order to save Cassie from the plague.
Meanwhile, the official synopsis of Episode 13 titled, ?Memory of Tomorrow,? reads: ?Cole and Cassie/Railly try to find peace living in the past. When a mysterious woman with apocalyptic visions of the future, tells Cole it’s not over, he must do the unthinkable to save the world.?
