Over the years, VR or virtual reality gaming has been making waves in terms of content and experience. Many companies are now putting a lot of effort in the previously underrated technology. The only downside of current VR hardware is the fact that they remain tethered to host computers. Fortunately, OEM computer makers are trying their best to squeeze in a lot of performance in very tiny form factor. One good example is the new Zotac VR GO. This ultra-portable rig is Zotac’s attempt on portable VR gaming.

The Zotac VR GO is a small, ultra-compact gaming computer that is neatly packaged in a backpack form for ultra-portability. Even though it has a very small form factor, the Zotac VR GO still packs one hell of a punch.

To start with, the Zotac VR GO houses the latest Skylake i7-6700T from Intel. The basic configuration has a 16GB RAM and can be upgraded to a maximum of 32GB. The main storage uses an M.2 interface and is equipped with a 240GB SSD. For additional space, the VR GO comes with an extra 2.5-inch drive bay for future upgrade.

In addition to the processor, the Zotac VR GO sports an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. So, in terms of graphics performance, this rig is very capable.

The VR GO is also equipped with a plethora of interfaces needed for VR gaming. The topside of the computer showcases a collection of ports like HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0, DisplayPort, and even a couple of Ethernet ports. Not that anyone would need Ethernet ports during VR gaming.

In case anyone is worried about connectivity, the Zotac VR GO is also equipped with an 802.11ac WiFi module. Gamers can enjoy untethered VR gaming with the current multiplayer VR game titles. As a cherry on the top, users can have 2 hours of mobile VR gaming thanks to its in-built 6600mAh lithium-ion battery. The batteries are also hot-swappable which means battery changing will not need a restart or power down.

The unit comes in a backpack form and weighs around 4.9 kg. The Zotac VR GO can be purchased from Amazon for as low as $1999.
