The TGN Purist Defense Force.
This is something that has bothering the hell out of me since I was brought to bare witness to this sometime ago. I see a lot of people trying to end argument using the game play card.
"I don’t buy games for graphics and I didn’t buy my ps3 for graphics I bought it because I Syed uncharted 1 and loved it and wanted uncharted 2. MGS4 is supposedly one of the best looking games of all time and it’s been in the plastic wrapper for 2 months now because I’m just having to much fun with my game. On the xbox" from the comment section of a VIDicle from HHG.
It is great to have an opinion. I am glad that there are so many people having so much fun on their console of choice. The facts still remains to be found, why has Microsoft invested so much money in the X-Engine....? The same reason SONY has, to keep up with competition. I can remember when people, including myself, were riding GEARS 2's dick. The graphic were there for that period and time. There are 100's if not 1000's of game from the past that have great game play, but wouldn't stand a snowman's chance in hell in today's world. Many things have happen since then.
Game play is the defense of fan-boys. Game play is at the route of all or should be at the route of all game development. Game Play is then implied. If a game sucks it sucks, no amount of polish will help that. Ala Splinter Cell. The game play was was Assassin's Creed like at the beginning and then they remade the hole thing. By no way am I saying that the game sucked. They waited a Splinter Cell game, not a Creed clone Anyone who gives the argument of game play has their back to a corner and nothing better to say. It is a tactic used in politic. (Remember 911, the attack on Iraq Only a true Americian would do this) Anyway, for those people who can't overcome their fan-boy or personal antagonist issues to give the credit deserved, just shut up. I am a grand observer. I watch and listen, not to just the surface, but the implied content of people. Weaving personal opinions with loosely litter facts is what should be avoided.
The TGN to my understanding was made for the love of gaming and to educate the masses.
The definition of a True Gamer also has to be redefined, that I will leave for another time.
