Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be a big deal when it comes out. The reputation Rockstar has built for itself is fairly impressive, thanks to the GTA games. When Grand Theft Auto 5 received a re-release, fans were hoping Red Dead Redemption would too. After all, the second game will be coming out in 2017.
However, that might not be the case. Sony announced that the first game would be available in their PlayStation Now service. This is a streaming service that lets users play PS3 games on their PC and PS4. Though a bit pricey, the amount of games available are fairly impressive, so adding the first Red Dead Redemption is icing on the cake. Does this mean an HD re-release is out of the question?
PlayStation Now, HD Release Never?
Fans were hoping to see an HD re-release of the first game, since Red Dead Redemption 2 is official. While it’s still an option, the lack of confirmation from Rockstar Games has made the possibilities of this happening smaller.
To be fair, other PS3 games in PlayStation Now have received HD releases. One only has to look at the recent Bioshock collection for proof of that. It’s not clear if the first Red Dead Redemption can benefit from an HD remake, but fans would appreciate it. At the least, it will be nice to put the first game side to side with the second one.
While an HD re-release for the first game is unclear, high demand could eventually lead to one. If titles like Batman Arkham and Assassin’s Creed can get them, Red Dead Redemption can. Since Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming out next year, one would think a re-release for the first game would be instant.
Perhaps Rockstar is still waiting for a more appropriate time to add a re-release to their schedule. Right now the company is busy with GTA Online and the aforementioned open-world Western sequel.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available sometime in 2017. The game will be coming out on the PS4 and Xbox One. A vague trailer for the game was released to critical acclaim.
