Review: Darksiders

On January 8th, 2010, Vigil games, in association with publisher THQ, unleashed Darksiders on the shores of North America. Now at first glance you might think that Darksiders is nothing more than a God Of War style hack and slash action game. Would that be a correct assumption? Well… Maybe half correct. Once you play Darksiders it becomes clear in just a few hours that, this game has a lot more to offer then just combos and screaming. Read the rest of this entry »

THQ Has It’s Own E-Shop, Metro 2033 Exclusives Via New Online Store

yhq store

THQ is making a move that in my opinion is just the beginning of many more developers/publishers taking the “Download it here not there” approach, why pay ridiculous royalty fees with another service when it can be distributed in house?

Jon Rooke, UK & European Marketing Director id quoted making these statements:

“Digital distribution is clearly becoming a widely accepted way for consumers to transact their PC purchases. THQ has some of the industry’s best known and critically acclaimed franchises and we are very pleased to be able to offer our consumers the ability to purchase these titles direct from THQ.”
“We plan to offer consumers added value on our key franchises with exclusive content such as the Librarian Wargear Pack, only available through the THQ E-Shop, and a range of other promotional offers on an ongoing basis so users are encouraged to check back regularly.”

Hiphopgamer Talks About Bias In Video Game Journalism

Letter from the Editor:

The opinions expressed in this video are the sole opinions of Hiphopgamer and not members of The Bitbag.

The review scores are in and God Of War 3 has performed incredible but there’s one problem, not everyone acknowledges the level of work Sony Santa Monica has put in to move this industry forward.

IGN and Gamespot respectively are the top 2 websites in our industry and some of the statements that were made in their reviews of God Of War 3 were flat out wrong and in a way bias.

The main issue with this is the fans who look to them to get all the details while Reviewers such as Chris Roper and Tom Mc Shea wouldn’t know greatness if someone literally slapped them in the face with a peace of it.

Is It Worth My Money?

I have been asked that question more times than I can count. Not for any game in particular though. I am talking about the some what shit smeared Final Fantasy XIII. Now, I’ve had the Japanese version for a few months (since December I think), but I have never really said weather or not it is worth the buck. This is due to several reasons. For starters I have to admit my position to this series. On a general note I am totally bias towards this series. I have always picked up each new iteration in the series, and have for the most part enjoyed them. I can’t hide the fact that in the past I’ve hyped the series, and JRPG’s in general, as if they where gifts from the gods. However, that doesn’t mean that I would back an installment in the series that was pretty bad. Those of you who have heard me bitch about FFXII, know exactly I am talking about. Virtua Fighter vs Tekken Part 2

Snskid made a part 1 of this post HERE. Jthamind (J. Williams) inspired this discussion via twitter. The question at hand is simple: Virtua Fighter or Tekken? My comrade snskid chose Tekken gave his reasons for doing so. Now you get to hear the other side of said discussion. I will always take Virtua Fighter. Why? Lend me your eyes and I will explain.

I have always been a Virtua Fighter fan. Hell, I liked the offshoots Fighting Vipers and Fighters Megamix as well. The 3D fighting allowed for a brand new dynamic at the time that plethora of 2D fighters at the time liked. There were some quality 3D fighting games out at the time too. People seem to forget about the Tobal series. Read the rest of this entry »

Mass Effect 2 Review

Mass Effect 2 dropped back in January but I just beat it. For those of you, who haven’t bought it yet or are maybe on edge about the game here is a late review, but a in-depth one. The space epic which took me around 30 hours to beat is one of the best games I’ve ever played.

Mass Effect 2 picks up with a bang in the first ten minutes. Not going to spoil anything, but Bioware doesn’t lead you into a story, they say “Here’s Mass Effect 2. Are you ready!”. The game is a roller coaster from there on out. The game, like the first, lets you explore the universe at your own pace doing side missions and talking to allies. Then at strategically placed points you get these interactive cut scenes that makes you feel like you feel like you are in a Star Wars (non-prequel) or Star Trek movie.

God Of War Trilogy: Report From The Battlefield

Well I continued playing GOW1 last night from I think midnight until 6am this morning. I want to thank all the troopers in the chat room for giving me two lifelines. I wasn’t paying attention to the chat room during gameplay because I wanted to figure things out myself. It did get to a point where I didn’t feel like spending 30min on one puzzle and looked at the chat and got my answers. Great stuff! Read the rest of this entry »
