Nike Air Max fans have a new reason to rejoice. After a special reissue of OG Nike Air Max 97 exclusive to Italian sneakerheads earlier this year, Nike is following up with a wider release. With the 20th anniversary of the Air Max 97 coming up, the iconic Nike Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” is making a return.
A full length Air sole headlines the sneakers while the upper is visible in colors of silver, varsity red and black. The Nike Air Max 97 is a highly coveted model because as it was one of the first Nike sneakers featuring a full-length Air unit on the sole.
The Silver Bullet colorway was designed by Christian Tresser. It became an instant hit in Italy. Nike, therefore, has decided to make this retro available to Italy first. Italy’s colors appear on the tongue and heel to help give the shoe a nice personalized touch.
The Air Max 97 in the “Silver Bullet” colorway is dropping this Friday, December 2nd, in Italy. A Western Europe release will follow on December 14th. In addition, END Clothing is confirmed to release the shoes on December 2nd as well.
Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” US Release
Nike News featured a photo of the 1997 original to compare to the upcoming retro. Since the Swoosh brand made the real photos available, SneakerNews felt pretty sure that the pair of shoes will eventually make its way to nike.com at a later date. Of course this means that the stateside fans do not have to wait for long. Rumors have pegged for a January 2017 release date for Air Max OG in the United States.
