Netflix Downloads Now Possible: Watch Content Offline

Netflix December 2016 shows

Netflix has finally brought a long requested feature from subscribers to its service–the ability to watch content offline.

Subscribers can now download some television shows and movies to watch offline. The streaming giant on Wednesday added an option to its mobile app that will allow subscribers to download content in advance which they can watch later without an internet connection.

The feature is available for phones and tablets on Android 4.4.2 or higher and iOS 8 and above, by updating the Netflix app, the company said in a statement. And what’s more, subscribers won’t have to pay extra for the service as it is available on all plan options.

However, not all movies or shows on Netflix’s catalog are included. Netflix said its original content such as Breaking Bad, Orange is The New Black, Narcos, Stranger Things and The Crown can be downloaded starting today. The company promised that more downloadable titles are on the way.

In order to view content offline, members need to update their Netflix app. Content with download option has an arrow symbol next to a title to indicate offline availability. Or, subscribers can browse at the new category on the Netflix app’s side menu called “Available for Download.”
