For quite some time already, rumors have been circulating online about the official release date of Microsoft Surface Pro 5. However, all information have remained speculations as the company never confirmed the launch date of the device. But according to a recent post, it seems like the new flagship tablet will hit the stores in less than two months from now.
According to the post, the much-anticipated device could actually arrive during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. The event will take place on February 27 and will run until March 2 in Barcelona, Spain. However, rumor has it that Microsoft might really introduce the tablet on the said gathering, but its release is probably in April.
To support this claim, there is an ongoing sale of the Surface device in the Microsoft online store in the United States. GSM Arena reported that from the original price of $999, the Surface Pro 4 is now only $899. This is said to be a way for the retailers to clear existing stocks for new shipments of the Pro 5. Should that be the case, then the introduction of the tablet at the MWC 2017 is likely possible.
Furthermore, Digitimes Taiwan even added information to support this recent claim. The publication noted that the release of the Surface Pro 5 was originally scheduled to take place in the first quarter of the year. If Microsoft will introduce the device later this month, then it could roll out sometime in March. That would then meet the first announcement of a first quarter release.
However, keep in mind that Microsoft has not confirmed any of these theories. They have not commented on these claims as well, so these pieces of information could either be correct or not. Just to be safe, take all information with a grain of salt. As of now, the only thing to do is wait for the company’s official announcement.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Specs
With regards to the features of the device, reports claim it would sport Intel’s Kaby Lake processor with 16 GB of RAM. The combination is said to boost 2-in-1 device’s performance as well as its battery life. The Pro 5 is also rumored to have a rechargeable Surface Pen and support for the Surface Studio’s Surface Dial. These features could even outperform the latest MacBook Pro of Apple, as speculations suggest.
The price of the Surface Pro 5, on the other hand, is said to be similar with its predecessor. But again, Microsoft has not confirmed any of these rumors, so let us just wait for further announcements. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
