Like most games nowadays, EA’s Mass Effect Andromeda also has a New Game plus mode where players can bring their progression in another playthrough. Lead Designer Ian Frazier confirms that players can use Character Creation again on the New Game Plus mode. Here’s what we know about the Mass Effect Andromeda New Game Plus mode.
New Game+ Carry Over Progression
According to Frazier’s Twitter post, players are confirmed to bring most of their progression into their Mass Effect Andromeda new game plus playthrough. Due to this system, players aiming to get every unique item and equipment on their first playthrough can use it earlier on their second playthrough. However, having end-game weapons and character stats may break the game’s balance at times if the player doesn’t adjust the difficulty accordingly.
Character Creation Again
More than bringing items and progression to the Mass Effect Andromeda new game plus mode, players will also be allowed to do character creation again. Players can pick the other gender, choose their relationships and interactions differently. However, players seem to be limited to changing Sara and Scott Ryder’s appearance instead of being able to play as a different alien race.
Frazier also confirmed that the Story and Nexus progressions are reset when going to the Mass Effect Andromeda new game plus mode. Like most new game+ playthroughs, players will start from the beginning of the game’s events with more equipment and items than usual. Players can choose different choices in their second playthrough if they want more variety or discover more about the NPC’s traits and backstory.
Meanwhile, resetting Nexus progression means that players will have to thaw people from cryosleep again. In Mass Effect Andromeda, the major Milky Way races like the Human, Asari, Salarian, Turian, and Krogan have sent some people to the Andromeda galaxy to make a colony for them. After the player’s awakening from cryosleep, more characters are still frozen. Thawing out more frozen characters staffs the hub world more, allowing players to “upgrade” the Nexus with these characters.
Mass Effect Andromeda So Far
Currently, Mass Effect Andromeda is about to be released this March 21. The game is experiencing major flak as it has some odd animations that range from silly to bizarre. We’ll have to wait for a few days for players to actually start on their Mass Effect Andromeda new game plus playthrough. The 10-day trial last March 16 did allow fans to progress in single-player, but it does have a progression wall. Stay updated with more Mass Effect Andromeda news here on TheBitBag.
