The Wasabi 360 Ultra (phat) is a very nice product. The product works as advertised and is compatible with the latest Xbox 360 Fall 2011 dashboard update. For this review, we test drive Wasabi with firmware v1.2 beta 1 and for the installation, we followed the steps provided on “Wasabi 360 Ultra X360Phat Installation Guide v1.1”. The installation guide is a bit outdated, so we took some nice high-resolution pictures and added some notes for clarification purposes.
Physical design and quality (7/10):
The housing on Wasabi 360 Ultra (phat) is made of mostly plastic. Therefore, it is light in weight—weighing approximately 70 grams (PCB and housing). However, the plastic used for the housing doesn’t feel very durable.
Important to note: Don’t apply too much pressure on the “Select” button (see user guide). You can damage it—like us.
Setup/Installation (9.5/10):
The installation of Wasabi is extremely easy. Follow the installation guide and check out the pictures that we took for support. As long as you have your Xbox 360 drive key.bin dumped, it is as simple as placing the key.bin file inside the folder called “wasabi” (e.g. X:\wasabi\key.bin) on your external hard drive. The Wasabi firmware also goes inside this folder. The only issue we ran into is trying to connect the green and white wires to the connectors, labeled “Grn” and “Wht”, on the Wasabi PCB. The green and white cables were a bit short, making it a bit difficult to attach the cables to the connectors. We hope the Wasabi team will take this into consideration.
Note 1: You must create the “wasabi” folder on the root of your external hard drive.
Note 2: The external hard drive must be formatted as NTFS. We use an eSATA hard drive for this review.
Usability (10/10):
After the installation and firmware update, you simply place your legally backed up ISOs on the root of your external hard drive (e.g. X:\Gears_of_War_3.iso). Here’s a quick tutorial: make sure the Wasabi switch is on “Emulation Mode” (see user guide)-> power on your system->navigate to Video-> select “Mixed Media Disc”->Current Disc->choose the game you want->go back to “home” (if you’re on the latest Fall 2011 dashboard)->select Eject disc->Boot game.
Compatibility (10/10):
All of the games that were tested works.
REVIEW SCORE: 91% out of 100% = GREAT
High-resolution pictures with important notes:

to be clear, does this mean that I would have to have a way of dumping the nand before being able to use the wasabi?
No, you just need your Xbox 360 DVD drive key. Not the MAN.
No. You do not need the NAND dump. You need the key.bin from your Xbox 360′s DVD drive.
Yeah, just use Team Xecuter x360pro with ck3pro.
So should i get a xkey or this wasabi? the videos i see online and stuff looks like it does the same thing…
Damn, if only it wasn’t too expensive. Anyone know where i can find a cheap one?
Good luck with that man. lol
Buy the game. Cheaper
Damn! Tired of waiting on c4eva to release their LT 3.0. This wasabi thing works with dashboard huh? damn damn damn.
You damaged your select button? Did you get power to wasabi when the select button was broken? I have done all things by following installation guide, but i dont get power to the wasabi … And hoe did you fix the button

Yes, we damage the reset button but a replacement button is on the way
You should get power if you follow the tutorial. Did you check out the pictures that we provided below the post? There are additional information that may help you.

Markus, it looks like you have everything installed correctly. The pictures you provided is not very clear but I looked it over about 5 times and it appears correct. Here are the original pictures I took of the installation. It is very big in size but very sharp. I hope this will help: http://depositfiles.com/files/5o2ohs82j Make sure to look at picture number 9, 10, and 11 in the zip file I provided. ALSO, CHECK YOUR “RESET” BUTTON. When you press on the button, make sure it is PRESSING ON the SMALL BLACK BUTTON on the Wasabi PCB board. If it is not, then you will not see the button light up. See this video that I took (reset button) : http://youtu.be/Pq0dbsOhBjQ
Thank you really much for your help and time Rith. Anyway, I still didn’t got it working.. maybe there is some cable which is wrecked or something.. Should I contact the team wasabi and ask for the exchange unit. I think the wasabi reseller from who I bought my wasabi (modpiiri.com) is kinda dead and could take some time to contact them.. -Markus
I mean the site is not so “Living” anymore =D… I think they are going to close their shop…
Markus, yes you should contact team Wasabi directly. They are very helpful.
because of the blue/white cable is not connected at the inner wasabi chip, you have to take it outside to connect it to the outer wasabi chip. this does not stand in your tutorial (“… you can leave out the blue and white …”) so i forgot it to connect. but the wasabi worked fine without any problems. i think it is the cable for the key-reading ability. i want to say it for people not to forget to connect the cable like me
merry x-mas
Thanks for the correction. We didn’t mean to say the “blue and white cable”–typo. The blue, green, and white cable combo can be left out–it works for us just fine.
i mean picture 7. you dont have to leave out and keep it on a save place the blue cable. you have to take it out to the outer wasabi chip.
Hey, I got an exchange unit of wasabi, and it’s now getting power etc etc
!!!. But my problem is that when I try to update the wasabi, first the blue leds starts flashing and then it changes to red/white leds flashing…. here is link for the screenshot from my wasabi folder : http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/441/wasabiii.png/ please correct me if there is something wrong… I have verbatim’s extrenal hard drive… with (eSata+usb) connects.. well this is message is kinda confused but try to understand it XD thank you!
and please help if you only could…
Markus……..Did you get this problem sorted out? I’m getting the red and white flashing leds with the newer firmware. The old firmware installs fine. I bought the wasabi when they added the ability to automatically extract the drive key. So I’m dead in the water without the newest firmware. I contacted wasabi a few days ago, but no response yet.
Hey i bought for 5 weeks ago , it does not work i have extracted the key.bin successfully , HDD is a NTFS format , updated my software correctly , i checked my connections 4 times , everything according the guides on your website. when i run xbox on emulated mode i see the contain of my HDD but when i choose the game it does not work, i tried to make my own iso file used fable 2 had same problem as well.some games show xbox360 start screen as a video. It just stopes there. i have googled and found some people have same problem because of a defective unit. please i need help i have tried everything i have contacted you before , but never got an answer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXT88RDqf8E

Hi, I have a question with regards blue&white wire. My unit has two sockets market Blu – one on SATA exchage board and one on Wasabi board. Which socket should I plug this blue&white cable into? I actually have tried both. If plugged into exchange board I’m getting E64 error on boot. If plugged into Wasabi board xbox works like no Wasabi 360 connected – even with Emulation\Passthrough switch in Emulation position ODD drive ejects, no ISOs are displayed in Video/Current disc, no error Wasabi messages appears there. Will be appreciated for any help with this Blue wire.

Sorry for duplicate posting.
I have figured out that this wire should be plugged into intermediate board for sure. But with such a setup I’m getting E64 error on boot. Did anyone encountered this issue before?
I have bought it some days ago, but it doesnt works. It works nice in pass model but in emulation mode, the hdd its not recognized. I checked my conections, i have conected the hdd directly to the wasabi, or with a enclousure, and, in both cases, it doesnt works. E message is “hdd not conected” or even that, the option “current disc” is not bold. Someone to help me?

hi im having issues with newer games like fifa 13 and cod ops2 on my wasabi asking for updates to play the game. if i update my xbox 360 slim console will this still work… anyone can help me out thx.
I have a Wasabi 360 phat and I can’t upgrade the firmware. The device works OK with many games, but far from all. I have FW 1.2 beta1 right now and would like to upgrade to 1.3. I copy the wasabi-update.bin file to the external HDD \wasabi folder. Then I set the device in Pass-thtu mode, press and hold SELECT key while I power on the XBox. The XBox starts up but nu FW upgrade is done…? The HDD led never flashes during the sequence so no data seems to be read. I have never seen any LEDs lit on my Wasabi nor blu, green or white? Shouldn’t there be LEDs on the Wasabi Phat. Could the failing upgrades be caused by a broken SELECT button? If so, how can the button be fixed?
