In response to the release of official firmware v3.72, the Rebug team has released the v3.72 Version Spoofer 2.0. Installing this version spoofer will prevent you from accidentally upgrading to firmware v3.72, as well as putting an end to the update notification.

Below, you’ll also find the Rebug Update Package. This will update the Rebug Selector package to Rebug Selector v1.6, which will resolve some known freezing issues, as well as fix the NORMAL MODE exit crash. Not to mention, it’ll also spoof the current version to v3.72.

There is a recent report showing a sneak peek into what we can all expect from the Rebug team. We all know about their awesome Rebug firmware. There releases are however not 100%, the CoreOS is still CEX. Below is a video showing the future in their custom firmware releases. In the video, the PS3 will first boot and then beep. This is normal if you install a full official DEBUG PUP via Service Mode on a retail console. Next you will see the booting of the PS3 using a USB Jailbreak Dongle. This time, the PS3 boots up and is fully 100% DEBUG firmware with no crashing or beeping and loads right into the XMB. This is possible by the Rebug team developing their own custom payload for usage on the old v3.41 Jailbreak dongles.

Just like that, the Rebug team released Rebug Update Package 0.1 (3.41.3)/0.3 (3.55.2) and 3.70 Version Spoofer 2.0 to the public. According to the team, the 3.70 version Spoofer 2.0 is faster and safer than its predecessors. It works similar to the Rebug Selector, where it backups your existing files prior to activating the spoof–followed by an auto-reboot of your PS3. The auto-reboot is to eliminate the possibility of end-user error.

3.70 Version Spoofer 2.0 is available for 3.41 and 3.55 firmware and is much faster and safer to use than the previous version spoofers. It works like the Rebug Selector and backs up your current files before activating the spoof, then auto reboots leaving no room for end-user error.

Here are two unofficial patches for Rebug v3.55.2, both released by wmxp–Rebug 3.55.2.u02 Privacy Patch and Privacy $Bling$ Patch version 2, the latter features a custom dynamic theme and coldboot with audio (see video).

My original patch I labelled as “Rebug 3.55.2″, with my reasoning at the time being 3.55.1+0.1, but since Rebug officially has a new 3.55.2 now, one might get confused.
This new patch is for 3.55.2 official!

While I can’t speak for everyone, Update Package 0.2 was *not* updating Rebug Selector 1.5 to 1.6 on any of the machines I tested it on. Only the included vsh.self updated correctly.
This update patch *will* upgrade the selector to 1.6 correctly in the flash.

Users who used the privacy MFM task, and then applied the Update 0.2 after will be lacking the aforementioned vsh.self with privacy patching. This patch fixes that problem.

Well it’s not exactly new news but team REBUG have been busy with the release of two new versions of their highly popular CFW. For the 3.41′ers out there they have REBUG_3.41.3_PS3UPDAT.PUP and the 3.55′ers REBUG_3.55.2_PS3UPDAT.PUP. As you may have noticed they also have a new logo, created by blastleaf from a certain website I won’t mention here…

They’ve also been busy updating their OTHEROS++ gubins. You can either go with simple downloadable PUPs that will give you 22gig for LINUX lovelyness or have a play and create your own using REBUG 3.41.3 or 3.55.2 and some step by step instructions over at the REBUG site.

Team Rebug is at it again. First off, their awesome new logo is the picture up top. The winner of the logo competition was blastleaf over at ps3crunch. Now for the exciting news, Team Rebug has released an updated version of their OtherOS++ for Rebug 3.41.3 and 3.55.2. The option to automatically input the QA Flag button combo plus other great features like the Trophy Issue Fix has been added to these updates.

Update: You should see two sections below: Rebug v3.41.3 & v3.55.2 (no OtherOS++) and Rebug v3.41.3 & v3.55.2 with OtherOS++.

First off, thanks to Skatekid for the tutorial and XDev for the video proof.  In this tutorial, you basically need two PS3s.  This is useful for those who need to get dlc map pack accounts or so on their 3.55 cfw.  This does not work for REBUG 3.55.  It has to be one of the other 3.55 cfws out there.  And this will work for 3.61 to 3.55 as well.

Tutorial:

First off the Regular PS3 needs to be on 3.65 Firmware.
Your Second PS3 needs to Be on a 3.55 CFW “Not Rebug”

Thanks to wmxp over at psx-scene who has released this privacy patch for Rebug 3.55.1. It is of course unofficial since it is not made by the Rebug team. This is a modified PUP with both the official update 0.1 and the official Rebug privacy patch applied, and a created DIFF patch for the public. It is a patch only and requires the original Rebug 3.55.1 PUP file. The patch has been tested successfully on two PS3s (one phat/one slim) without issues. The privacy patch scans and edits all the PS3′s system files looking for any reference to a Sony and/or affiliate domain, and replaces it with “aaaaaaaaaaa” leaving the extension intact.

Rebug team has released a new update package for their popular custom firmare, Rebug 3.55.1 CFW. They opt for the package instead because there are only minor fixes that comes with what they want to implement in the firmware.

Here are the list of the updates:

• Update both the Rebug Selector 1.2 package and the current install with Rebug Selector 1.4
• (Larger fonts, faster and easier to use)
• Fix the cause of Uncharted 2 and some other games Black Screening
• Update the current version spoof files to 3.65
• Minor tweak to the paths in Package Manager

So, if you’re on Rebug, and want to test what the team has to offer with the package file, download it with the direct link below. Oh ya, the real deal PSN still do not work with this release, if you’re still wondering about it.

Install it with the “Install Packages” feature in your jailbroken PS3 console.
