Developer jjolano is back with an update to his wildly popular OpenPS3FTP app. This release includes plenty of fixes and enhancements. For example, the passive mode function and socket handling has been improved. See the changelog for more.

Well it has been a while since we heard from jjolano, but today he has released the latest version for OpenPS3FTP putting it at v2.2. Along with this new update comes more compatibility for older FTP clients, rewritten code for PSL1GHT v2, improved overall connection handling, and much more. If you are not using OpenPS3FTP, then give it a try. It is is an open source ftp server for the PS3. It has an implementation of most ftp commands and also supports most ftp clients. It has some compliance to the ftp RFC. Remember that the default login username is root, and any password is accepted unless if the passwd file exists.

Axtux, from ps3-addict, has released this project called OpenFTP. OpenFTP is based on jjolano’s OpenPS3FTP v2.0. OpenFTP offers the possibility to mount the dev_flash to the PS3 to change its FTP file (use with caution). OpenFTP also deletes the screen saver unlike OpenPS3FTP. Note that the homebrew is located in the “Network” and not “Game.”

Future Features:

- Showing “/ app_home” and “/ host_root” using the Triangle button (disabled by default because of the slowdown of the LIST).

Prerequisites:

- Custom Firmware
- Active network connection

The awesome FTP for PS3 is finally out with a new version. OpenPS3FTP is now running at version 2.0. This new version comes with a huge update courtesy of jjolano. In this latest update, there is a changed ICONo.PNG, added dev_dragon to mount detection and warning list, should support remote play (not tested yet), and much more. We reported a couple of days ago about this FTP for the PS3 called DragonFTP. Well the author, DarkHacker, has now updated it to DragonFTP v0.25. There isn’t a whole lot of difference to this latest version. It comes with improved dev_dragon, added debug screen for devs, and converted app to compile with the dead rsx library.

OpenPS3FTP has been updated to v1.5. With this latest version of OpenPS3FTP, there is improved performance and stability. There is also a better syscall usage, fixed a possible memory leak, and more. Read below to find out more about what has been added to this latest version. If other PS3 FTP has not been working that great, give OpenPS3FTP a try. It is one of the best PS3 FTP out there.

Released by DarkHacker, DragonFTP is an FTP server app for the PS3–based off the open source OpenFTP server app. Currently, there are minor differences between DragonFTP and OpenFTP, such as a screen saver and an options menu. But the developer plans to add more features in future releases.

OpenPS3FTP v1.4 has been released by jjolano. The latest version of this application have bug fixes as well as improvements. Some of these updates are that there is now more return codes, another new parser that is better, detects all known dev_flash writable mount points, and more. Below are steps on how to install and connect using this app.

There seems to be not much news today, but thanks to jjolano who has updated his OpenPS3FTP to version 1.3. A little information about this app is that it is an open source multi-threaded ftp server for the PS3 (made with PSL1GHT). This latest version comes with a new command parser, new readme format, file transfers more reliable and whole lot more. I will repost the features of this app.

This program allows you to transfer files to and from your PS3 using your computer. This program is to be installed on your PS3. On your computer, you will need a program like FileZilla, FlashFXp, CuteFTP, WinSCP or other FTP software to get things moving.

After installing the FTP Server .pkg file on your PS3 and an FTP program on your computer, start the FTP Server on the PS3, go to your computer and run the FTP program, enter PS3′s ip, port 21, and leave username, and password blank. To quit the FTP Server program on your PS3, press either press X.
