[FAKE] 3.anything – new downgrade method

by DCgh0st - on Jul 14th 2011 - 5 Comments

This is being reported as a fake, as I said I haven’t tried it so am unable to confirm either way. It is probably best for users to ignore for now and wait for Project PROGSKEET to become retail or go the infectus route.

Thanks to user Guest_1651 I bring you (pre 17th Feb 2009) PS3 owners good news. Clever so and so’s at thetechgame.com have found a way to downgrade PS3′s (made before the 17th February 2009) to OFW 3.21, meaning of course where you go from there is entirely up to you (REBUG anybody?)

The method is pretty long winded and will NOT, currently work on PS3′s made AFTER February 17th 2009 (did I mention that already?), also the only “registration codes” (the code that corresponds to the firmware you want to end up on) made public at the moment are for phats but slim ones are available by PM’ing the author of the original forum post here.

There are some issues to take in mind first though:

You need 2 wireless controllers and cables for each

You need 2 4gb (NO SMALLER) usb sticks

You need a CD or old game (they don’t say how old but I’m guessing the older the better, or just stick to your bon jovi best of album)

You probably want someone with you, to keep pressing O, and call an ambulance when your heart gives out from the stress of possibly killing your lovely PS3.

I haven’t tried it myself as I’m still on 3.51 but from other members of thetechgame.com it seems to work.

I’m not going to post the tutorial here as I figure if you can’t even find the link to it above you will no doubt screw your PS3 up :p

If any of you guys try it please let us know how it goes, and follow the instructions to the T.

Latest PS3 Games Compatibility Report

by Dukio - on Jul 4th 2011 - 2 Comments

We are at it again, the time where we are insecure about our own purchased games compatibility in the current CFW state.

As we all have known, most newly released PS3 titles requires your console to be running the latest version of the official PS3 firmware due to the neat trick from the publishers to implement 3.60 keys into their games. For now, no confirmed working 3.60+ CFW yet in the scene, unless Gitbrew provide us with some interesting goods in the near future.

So, it will be your task to check whether your new games will be playable in a 3.55 CFW powered console.

Downgrade 3.6x 256 NAND Fats possible using Infectus! UPDATE: Slims in the works!

by Andrea1Liquid - on Jun 29th 2011 - 4 Comments

Yesterday a user at Elotrolado, dospiedras1973, found out and documented how to downgrade 3.6x FAT Consoles with NAND (sorry, NOR users). This is a quote from his post (translated with Google Translate) :

Hello, I’ve been working on this project about two months now since I’ve gotten to work as public so that everyone can use, this tutorial is for consoles with 256MB NAND flash does not mean it does not work in 16MB in itself is changed almost the same in those with normal flash, but because even I have my fat fucking 16mb 80GB I have not been able to neither prove nor verified.

Nougat (the phrase I owe to some forero around here that I really liked the expression):

With INFECTUS flash0.bin and we get our nand flash1.bin as in the tutorial to repair bad lukin nands do the same process until we get our dump flashfinal.bin 256MB

nand we open this with a simple hex editor and look for this part editor

“00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 6F FF E0″

ay you will see that just under a very similar line, I find this data in the offset 000C0020 may vary according to the nand and the party starts here:-D

EVEN replace that line with the file if you use the hxd 1patchcos.bin get in the first 0 of the line -> right click and paste writing before you have to have an open 1patchcos.bin hxd in hex and copy its contents to can paste ..

then we find the second file to patch at hxd we dump on our part:

“00 00 00 00 00 00 10 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 40″

and in the same way as the first patched patched this also cojemos 2patchtrvk.bin pack the file and replace the entire contents including the
“00 00 00 00 00 00 10 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 40″

then we take the option we use reescramble flowrebuilder this dump so we rebuild our flash0.ECC.bin and flash1.ECC.bin

and flash the result, when you finish you will notice that the PS3 now has a nice on but black screen, it cojemos our factory jig to put it into service mode and put it in factory, then the typical cojemos lv2diag of yore and the pup you please

(NOTE: the first pup that metais will stay in the console as the minimum version that you can downgrade then, if you want to lose 3.55 to 3.41 then you will have to put the pup up to 3.41 before 3.55 or 3.55 will remain in that if cost will not rewrite the dump again to downgrade to lower the pup that you put the first time.)

then you put your factory lv2diag to leave the service and you’re

Note: this applies to repair the brick Waninkoko NAND NOT DONATED plates even sem-001 (tested) (and step downgrade xD)

Thanks:

all channel # irc-hispano darkps3 for supporting me for so long
to donate the INFECTUS austaquio32 to achieve to continue with my project
to Nodial2ne paid for the help locating files in the nand
to robs1 for helping throughout the process with ideas to make this possible

and everyone who was patient and not by private haunts me xD

er_poty: I do post, post it comes to creating private fights and telling him to send me get to the bottom of the shoes PDNKED

pd: I have 4 years unemployed, who selflessly want to donate something please contact me via private (sorry but I have 2 children and the PS3 does not give me to eat me or them xD)
either that or give me a job lene!

PS3′s compatible with this method (thanks pdnked):
PS3 Fat:
CECHA = 256MB
CECHB = 256MB
CECHC = 256MB
CECHE = 256MB
CECHG = 256MB

Actually, this method is not new: it’s the same method math discussed at Psx-scene’s forums a while ago and an evolution of rms’ waninkoko unbricking method, thus it’s believed to be working. Remember, if you’re willing to test DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. Are you going to test this method? Or rather wait for a CFW? Let us know in the comment section below ;)

Thanks go to Guest_4026 for the tip ;)

UPDATE: dospiedras1973 is reporting his work on a slim method! Stay tuned for more updates! (Thanks to Sam for the tip ;) )

Gitbrew is working on bringing the 3.56+ exploit

by Dukio - on Jun 28th 2011 - 8 Comments

I’m sure you are familiar with the gitbrew guys who has brought you OtherOS++ as well as other PS3 tweaks that are in line with the Linux thing. Well, they may have to put that project aside now after they have discovered a theory which would work with the 3.56+ exploit that everyone has been craving about for the past few..months.

Interesting… Have a theory for a new exploit for 3.56+. Testing it in a bit.

If they indeed found the real thing, and release it in the latest CFW form, I’m sure everyone will kiss their ass thanked them for the effort they’ve done to help the scene. Good luck gitbrew team!

F.E.A.R. 3 Another Big PS3 Title With 3.60 Keys Planted

by Dukio - on Jun 25th 2011 - 6 Comments

New game added to the growing list of non-working video games in the custom firmware region is the next installment for the F.E.A.R franchise.

If you are still looking the ways of how to fix the game, forget about it, unless we have the 3.60 private keys, or 3.60 CFW (to say the least) in our hands there has been no subtle way to make the game working on our jailbroken console. So, to get even a slightest hope that F.E.A.R 3 will be working on 3.55 CFW, you need to wait for a official update patch from the game developer themselves – just like the patch for Transformers game that has just been rolled out.

F.E.A.R 3, developed by Day 1 Studios, is a horror first person shooter game that has been released few days ago to several platforms namely Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and OnLive.

Latest PS3 Games Doomed With 3.60+ Keys

by Dukio - on Jun 19th 2011 - 10 Comments

We’re going through some difficult time in this new era of 3.60 keys looming PS3 games, which, we all know wouldn’t work with the old 3.55 CFW. Unless you are a guy named Mathieulh, you need to refrain yourself from buying these PS3 games if you want to keep your homebrew love still running on your beloved, dusty console.

  • Cars 2
  • Ryu ga Gotoku of The End
  • Shadows of the Damned
  • Record of Agarest War
  • No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise
  • Top Gun Wingman Edition
  • Vampire Rain: Altered Species

What should you do? Keep your mouth shut, wait for the fixes and patches, or work it out yourself.

PS3 Debug Firmware from 3.50 to 3.60 Leaked

by Dukio - on Jun 16th 2011 - 3 Comments

I have no idea what the end users can benefit with the debug PS3 firmwares because we already knew folks at Rebug got most of the debug functions up and running in their custom firmwares (CFW).

I know debug PS3s though, the consoles was a rare and its been tailored for someone with deep programming knowledge who wants to test things on their PS3 development project, mostly the game studios. But, in the recent years, George Hotz and Mathieulh claimed they owned the debug systems which help in part to their hacking activity. Mind you, the cost of one debug unit is in the region of $10,000 dollars according to what i stumbled upon in the net.

The console exterior look are not much different than the retail ones, except the “Test” word. See it below.

If you are still interested to check out the debug firmwares, you know, to see how it looks like, then, here you go.

by Dukio - on Jun 13th 2011 - 14 Comments

Transformers: Dark of the Moon the video game is a tie-in to the anticipated blockbuster movie this summer that get in part to create the excitement on some of the events and characters you’ll see in the upcoming Michael Bay’s bombarded, Megan Fox-less film. Now that developer High Moon Studios is in charge of the development, you can expect that the controls and gameplay will be influenced with the studio’s previous video game, Transformers: War for Cybertron.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, 3DS)
Developer: High Moon Studios

Release Date: June 14, 2011

The release is just two days away, so the question is now, will it be 3.60 keys infested game? or will there be a scene group that has the patches and fixes for the game? We’ll soon to find out whether the game is working with 3.55 CFW or not. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Confirmation has arrived for the game, it seems the latest Transformers title for the PS3 is indeed infested with the 3.60 keys. We hope there will be a fix for everyone on 3.55 CFW soon!

Resistance 3 Demo Leaked – Working On 3.55 CFW

by Dukio - on Jun 12th 2011 - 1 Comment

Excited for Resistance 3? The actual release date for the game is on 6th September this year, but why not getting a whip at the demo? Well, it has been leaked in the underground scene ahead of the stores release, based on the reports yesterday.

And don’t worry, it doesn’t have the 3.60 craps on it so that you can fully enjoy the Resistance 3 demo on your console. I’m not sure if i can share it with you guys in legal terms, but you can always search it on the net or maybe a little run at the chat box would help.

On unrelated note, i hope that the full version of the game would eventually works with what we have in the scene.

Thanks to djhazardous for the news tip!

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, Rise Of The 3.60 Keys, Actually

by Dukio - on Jun 12th 2011 - No Comments

Yep, you see it right, another PS3 game reported not to be working with the latest jailbreak available. Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is a tie-in to the upcoming Green Lantern movie which is set to be released on June 17, 2011 at your nearest theaters. Here are some of the screenshots for the action game developed by Double Helix Games:

Now, if you still want to play this game on your jailbroken PS3, you need to wait until someone figure out a fix for the game or hoping that the update patch contains something that would work with the 3.55 CFW or maybe 3.41 CFW, for those who are still on that firmware.

Alice Madness Returns Not Working On 3.55 CFW

by Dukio - on Jun 12th 2011 - 7 Comments

Another roundup of PS3 game that has been victimized with the deadly 3.60 keys that sure gunned down those wanting to play their copy of Alice Madness Returns on a jailbroken PS3. But wait, a grownup playing an Alice Wonderland game? Are you sure you not buying it for the kids?

Oh, now i get it..

Anyway, I’m sure there are still a lot of people out there who are waiting for the patches update or maybe fix package for the game in a form of EBOOT maybe?

At the time of writing, the US version of Alice Madness Returns is the PS3 game which reportedly not playable with the 3.55 CFW console. Other region might follow suits as well.
