PS3 PUP Unpacker & Decrypter v2.2 tool released

by Rith - on Jan 24th 2012 - No Comments

Here’s another release by nathanr3269. PS3 PUP Unpacker & Decrypter is used for unpacking PS3 PUP, RCO, and SELF files–just to name a few.

I have done this PS3 PUP Unpacker & Decrypter v2.2 homebrew application tool (basically is an script that use other tools) a long time ago for easily unpacking a PlayStation 3 PUP file for those who don’t know how. This works on Cygwin and Ubuntu (not CMD windows)

You can choose what to do with this tool, like Unpack PUP, decrypt SELF files, etc.

The information below is from the readme file included in the download.

Changelog:

  • v1.0 – Initial release
  • v1.1 – Added more tasks
  • v1.2 – Keys bug fixed
  • v1.3 – Fixed bug on folders
  • v2.1 -
    • Added options menu in help screen
    • “pup_PD.exe” modified, now can unpack “spkg_hdr.tar” and “ps3swu2.self” files on 3.56+ PUP
    • Added function to decrypt “index.dat”
    • Added function to unpack RCO files
    • Added function to unpack and convert VAG to WAV files
  • v2.2 – Added function to decrypt and unpack Core_OS

What we can do automatically with this program?

  • Unpack PUP
  • Decrypt TAR/PKG/SELF
  • Decrypt index.dat
  • Decrypt Core_OS
  • Unpack Core_OS
  • Unpack decrypted TAR/PKG
  • Unpack RCO files
  • Unpack and decrypt VAG to WAV files

$./pup_unpacker.exe

PUP Unpacker & Decrypter v2.2 By Evilnat

Usage: pup_unpacker.exe [OPTION] filename.pup directory

Example: pup_unpacker.exe -all PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW355

Options (ONLY CHOOSE ONE):

Usage:

  1. Unpack folder of RAR on your home directory in Cygwin (C:\cygwin\home\XXXX\Unpacker)
  2. Copy PS3UPDAT.PUP file you want in it
  3. Open Cygwin’s console and enter the folder
  4. And type: (OFW_355 is an example, you can change this)
    /pup_unpacker.exe [OPTION] PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW_355
    [ Example: ./pup_unpacker.exe -all PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW_355 ]
  5. Now depending what option you had choosen the executable will do it all automatically
All is done, “dev_decrypted_unpacked” folders contain self decrypted files

This program requires certain exe files and PS3 keys that are included in RAR, DON’T DELETE THEM. If an error occurs it will stop automatically, showing what has happened. Hope this helps someone

PS3 PUP / Dev_Flash File Spoofer v3 tool released

by Rith - on Jan 24th 2012 - 1 Comment

Developer nathanr3269 has released a file spoofer tool that can be used to perform the following tasks: extract vsh.self, index.dat, and version.txt from PUP files; spoof flash files (e.g. vsh.self and version.txt that were extracted); and automatically extract and spoof files belonging to PUP files.

I have done this PS3 PUP / Dev_Flash File Spoofer v3 Tool (basically is an script that use other tools) long time ago for easily spoof necessary files from a PUP file or your own files of dev_flash. This works on Cygwin and Ubuntu (not CMD windows)

There are 4 tools included to perform different jobs:

  • keys.exe – Install PS3 keys
  • extractor.exe – Extract vsh.self, index.dat and version.txt of PUP file
  • spoofer.exe – Spoof your flash files [vsh.self and version.txt] (put there in same folder with spoofer.exe)
  • spoofer_pup.exe – Extract and spoof automatically files of PUP (it must be in same folder with spoofer_pup.exe)

You must choose what version and image version you want to spoof in tools spoofer.exe and spoofer_pup.exe, for example, if i want to spoof to 6.40 i put this on Cygwin console (you can choose any image version):
./spoofer.exe 06.4000 99999

or

./spoofer_pup.exe 06.4000 99999

When it finish you have your spoofed files in Spoofed folder. Version must have same numbers of characters, otherwise it give you error on PS3. If you do something wrong PS3 will boot up Red Screen, if that occurs re-install CFW from Recovery Menu.

File index.dat is really not necessary to extract, it creates a new one with spoofed version.txt (spoofed tools does it auto).

I hope this helps anyone. If you see any error or bug please contact me.

Regards

PS3 Remote Play – an enhancement patch

by KingX - on Jan 5th 2012 - 2 Comments

Here is an enhancement patch for the PS3 Remote Play–developed by mysis.  This software will allow PS3 users to use the Remote Play function on a computer.  This patch will enhance the software and lift some restrictions that were on the original Open Remote Play.

These patched files should enhance the Remote Play-Feature. Naughty Sony-Developers or propably some smartass manager f*cker thought official pc remote play should only be limited to 6x ps3 applications, namely:

NPEA00135 (VidZone)
BCES00096 (PlayTV)
NPEA90028
NPEA90029 (PlayTV too)
NPJA00001 (Mainichi Issho/Everyday Together)
