[UPDATE] multiMAN v2.09.02 — check if PSX game requires ps1emu or ps1netemu

by Rith - on Oct 10th 2011 - 5 Comments

Here’s a little gift from Dean to users with custom firmware/modified firmware v3.41. PSX backups are not supported on these firmwares. However, if you’re still rocking the old v3.41 official firmware w/ USB dongle, this is not for you.

Dean says:

Ok, some good news for 3.41CFW/MFW users. Thanks to an0nym0us the proper offsets for lv1 and lv2 in 3.41 were located and you can now enjoy the PSX games and direct-disc-access.

Have in mind that it won’t work for 3.41OFW + dongle. You need to be on 3.41MFW with some lv1 patches like Rogero CFW, Rebug CFW or Hermes CFW (3.41 versions).

Changelog for v2.09.01:

  • Support for PSX backups on 3.41CFW/MFW (10x to an0nym0us for the lv1/lv2 offsets)

Update: Dean has released a minor update for multiMAN. This update includes a check to determine if a PSX game requires ps1emu or ps1netemu.

Cheers to tran132 for the news tip!

multiMAN v2.08.10 UPDATE released

by Rith - on Oct 5th 2011 - 8 Comments

Dean has released a minor update to multiMAN. In this release, you’ll find that creating backups from PS3 game discs now works.

Changelog for v2.08.10:

  • Backup from PS3 game discs now works as it should
  • You can still launch PSX games from XMMB Game Column
  • You can still launch PS3 game backups from DVD-R/RW / BD-R/RE
  • You cannot create ISO backups or access non-genuine PS3 game discs
  • You will see a “STAR” icon in XMMB Game column, which you can use to launch your PSX backups.

To keep the same functionality as before you can turn on “Direct Disc Access” from XMMB Settings column.

Press [TRIANGLE] -> Enable Direct Disc Access

When in Direct Disc Access mode you can do all the stuff you did before, except “creating backups of PS3 Game Discs”.

Only problem found one problem so far. To return from to the main menu from a game, you need to press L3 & R3 together, the “Return to Menu” option in the quick menu does not seem to work.

I have only tested it quickly, but seems to running nicely.

by Rith - on Sep 28th 2011 - 1 Comment

I must say, it’s been awhile since we last saw an FBANext update for the PS3. Nevertheless, Violentcris from PS3News has compiled and released FBANext r490 for both custom firmware v3.41 and v3.55.

  • Revision 488: (PS3) Calculations in setview are no longer being done every frame, but done once outside the main emulation loop – the same goes for rotation.
  • Revision 487: (PS3) Build changes

Supported systems:

  • Capcom CPS-1
  • Capcom CPS-2
  • Capcom CPS-3Cave
  • Neo Geo
  • Sega System 16 (and similar systems), System 18, X-Board, Y-Board

[UPDATE] Boot PSX (PSone) backups on PS3 — “save game” progress to memory card added

by Rith - on Sep 27th 2011 - 25 Comments

Developer shevens, from ps3crunch has found a way to boot PlayStation 1 (PSX) backups on his PS3 slim running custom firmware v3.55–Rebug v3.55.2 to be exact. He’s not sure whether this method will work for jailbroken PS3 consoles with firmware v3.41. It’s important to note that saving to memory card does not work.

Schevens says:

hi there,

I am ScHeVeNs a German PS3 Developer,

I have found a way, to boot any burned PS1 Backup Game, its not very hard to make…

Requirements:

PS3 with 3.55CFW
(maybe also a 3.41 machine, but not tested in moment!) ( I use Rebug 3.55.2 for that )
multiMAN latest version!
