iPad Pro 2017 Update: New Designs for iPhone 8 Being Tested on iPad Pro 10.9-inch

iPad Pro 2017

There have been numerous reports regarding the rumored iPad Pro 2017. However, most reports agree that the purported tablet will come either a 10.5- or 10.9-inch screen, with preference to the latter. Earlier reports suggest that the new model will be targeted for the academic industry.

Whether the new iPad Pro comes in either 10.5 or 10.9 inches, the most important feature of the display is its micro-bezel design. Apple is rumored to be toying with the idea of releasing a mobile device that features an almost non-existent bezel. This is perhaps in preparation for next year’s iPhone 8. Many now believe that the next iPhone iteration will have an edge-to-edge display. It looks like Apple is doing a “test run” to see the feasibility of the design.

The only difference between the iPhone 8 and the 10.9-inch iPad Pro 2017 is that the top-tier iPhone 8 will have an AMOLED display. The 10.9-inch iPad will still sport the same IPS LCD common to all iPads in existence.

The micro-bezel screen is not the only feature that Apple is trying out for next iPad release. It is also rumored that Apple is also thinking about removing the physical home button on the upcoming iPad Pro. Instead of the physical button, the home button will be embedded underneath the display. The embedded home button will also feature the same haptic feedback found on current iPhone 7 phones. The camera, on the other hand, will remain within the top bezel of the tablet along with other sensors.

Even though the display screen is bigger on the 10.9-inch iPad Pro, it will have the same footprint as the 9.7-inch iPad. This is due mainly to the purported micro-bezel design that Apple is considering for the new iPad Pro model. It will also have the same thickness as the 9.7-inch version, albeit a bit heavier.

According to reports, the 10.9-inch iPad Pro will be release in the first half of 2017. To date, there are no indications of the price. However, since it will be made for academic purposes, it may be that Apple will have special discounts for the tablet.
