One of the three mystery panels at Sony’s PlayStation Experience 2016 has just been revealed. Hideo Kojima will be gracing the PSX stage in Anaheim, California to a host a one-hour panel for his first post-Metal Gear project: Death Stranding.
Death Stranding at PSX 2016
The official description for the show reads: “Hideo Kojima and special guests Death Stranding panel.” Who could these mystery panellists be? Apart from lead actor Norman Reedus, recent rumours have mentioned the possibility of Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen having a role in the game as well. Could one or both of these actors join Kojima on stage? What about Guillermo Del Toro? Kojima previously said that the Pacific Rim director wasn’t “currently involved with the project,” but you never know. We’ll have to wait until this weekend to see.
The presentation kicks off at 1 pm Pacific Time on December 3. It will be streamed live on Sony’s social media accounts on Facebook Live, Twitch, and YouTube. For those in attendance, Kojima confirmed that he will be holding an autograph session after the presentation as well.
PSX 2016 isn’t the only event that the Metal Gear creator will be attending this week in California. Tomorrow, December 1st, he’s scheduled to receive the prestigious Industry Icon Award at The Game Awards 2016 in Los Angeles. TGA host and producer Geoff Keighley promised that the event will have “at least 10 major premieres” throughout the night. Given Kojima’s presence, it’s possible that a new Death Stranding trailer could be one of them.
Will we get to see gameplay footage though? It’s worth noting that Keighley promised that this year’s awards event will show the current state of the games at the event rather than just teasing fans.
One thing’s for sure, there will be a lot of big gaming news in the Sunshine State this week. Be sure to check out all our coverage of Death Stranding, PSX 2016 and TGA 2016 right here on TheBitBag.
