Review: Axel & Pixel

axelpixel-logo

Story:

Knowing that Axel & Pixel is an XBLA title I wasn’t expecting a huge epic story, but what I did get was rather nice. Also being a game with no dialogue what so ever (Axel speaks gibberish), the story is up for interpretation, but it’s not hard hard to figure out. Axel who is a painter and his dog Pixel are relaxing together on a calm mid-winter’s day, when all of a sudden a rat comes out and plays strange music on a gramophone. Axel and Pixel fall asleep into a surreal dream world and that’s where your adventure begins. The rat who played the strange music appears to hold the key to your escape so you follow him through out the story chasing him through the four season’s of nature. While the story makes little to no sense that’s the beauty of it, it’s abstract. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Guitar Hero 5

GH5 PARTY PLAY NOW!

Since it’s inception in 2005 Guitar Hero has become a household name, appearing in movies, television, and causing the creation of a number of music sim clones trying to cash in on it’s success. Neversoft changed the franchise from guitar-centric to supporting an entire band with the release of Guitar Hero: World Tour in 2008, but many thought that it was an inferior experience compared to that of music sim rival Rock Band. Is the Guitar Hero franchise done for, or can it be saved? Guitar Hero 5, the newest addition, might just be exactly what the doctor ordered. Read the rest of this entry »

Square-Enix’s 0 Day Attack on Earth – XBL Arcade

0Day

With TGS 2009 pumping out a whole lot of Playstation news, we all forgot that both Nintendo and Microsoft had a few things to show off as well. This morning I found some juicy information in my E-Mail. Boy have times really changed for the XBLA games as of late. I can recall the first generation of Xbox 360’s XBL Arcade games. Games like DigDug, Pacman and Frogger flooded the platforms network and while they are cool to play even to this day I felt like XBLA was missing something that made it a true destination for AAA games.

On this episode we debate about what is HD and what isn’t. Hiphopgamer insists that 600p in not HD. The term sub-HD is toss around like it’s an actual standard. Torrence insists that anything over 480(NTSC standard) or 525(PAL standard) lines of resolution is considered HD. We also get into a debate over whether FFXIII is really being dumbed down or not. Torrence takes time to smash PS3center and their claims against SE. Also on this show:

Bonk Returns To Your Console Via Xbox Live And PSN

bonk

The whole remake thing is getting really cool. TMNT was done very well. I only wish they included the original 2D game with the download. Now Bonk is finally returning to the Xbox 360 and PS3. I can’t even fathom how bad ass it will be playing Bonk again with redefined graphics. Can we get Capcom to give us an HD version of Final Fight? Oh yeah, there’s a new Bomberman coming out too! Here’s the ink from Hudson: Read the rest of this entry »

Video Game Warzone #57

On this episode we talk about what Microsoft NEEDS to do with the 360 at this point and that is drop the Elite to $199. It’s a year older than the PS3 and it shouldn’t be the same price. Fans and Bitbaggers get into a huge debate with HHG about his claims that Heavy Rain is destroying the PC game industry. This argument goes on for about 30min. Candid Anthony comes on the show and smashes Hiphopgamer. We also discuss how Take Two is ripping us off by making us pay for the 2K10 Draft Combine making the total cost of 2K10, $65. Lastly we debate on whether or not a game should be completed 100% before it’s reviewed. Also on this show:

* Why I’m not getting Batman AA until next year and why you shouldn’t judge games off of videos (Torrence)
* I challenge Hiphopgamer to a Game Review Battle (Torrence)
* I ask the fans if they believe Uncharted 2 can’t be done on 360 (Torrence)
* Game cost is too high (Chad B)
* Hulu possibly coming to 360 (Chad B)
* TGS possible FFVII and Kingdom Hearts announcements (Weapon X)
* GT car damage looks real (HHG)
* Possible Home update announced at TGS (HHG)

Madcatz Launches Modern Warfare 2 Lineup

* Miramasa is a must have Wii title (Torrence)
