Drunken Gamer: Chapter 1

From the tip of my bottle to the bottom of my glass, I often times sit and reminisce the good ol’ days of gaming. Not just about how companies marketed poorly back in those days, but the progress of where games have come from and where they’re headed. What is the future of gaming? Would we even call it gaming in the near future? When we’re in our 60s and the grandchildren are playing the PS9, what stories could we tell them of the old days and how informative would we be about it? In this day and age of the “console wars”, you gotta think that perhaps somewhere down the line it just won’t fucking matter about graphics. Read the rest of this entry »

Sega’s Secret Archive at Sega of America… OMFG.

Ok, this just made my day. Maybe my whole week.  Someone posted pictures on Flikr of a room at Sega of America.  This room is like a museum, every thing Sega has ever made is in this archive. Also pictures of desks, Screenshots, and other various awesomeness from inside Sega’s Corporate offices!  Check out these photos, I can almost hear the sound my Master System made when i hit the power button.   SEEEEGGGGGA!!

Edit:   Wow this flikr page has LOTS of gems in it.  It has screenshots from games at E3 08, Sonic Unleashed Stormrise and many others.  Looking through this 60 page photobook is worth your time.

NBA 2K8 Causes The Destruction Of 2 Xbox 360 Controllers

I was chatting with my friend online and he had a story to tell.  It was not unlike a lot of his past stories with game systems.  Like when he couldn’t beat M.Bison on 8 stars and he stood up and stomped directly on top of the cartridge, while it was in the slot. It broke the casing in half, right along the creases.   That’s just one of many times video game hardware has been destroyed at the hands of my ‘360 Friend’.  Here’s the dialog we had today concerning his latest wave of console destruction which had him getting a new 360 just to replace his controller. Just When You Thought Kids Were Too Cool For Retro Gaming

One of the greatest things about being a gaming dad is that I get to expose my son to all the cool stuff I’ve acquired over the years. I have a Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Wii, Xbox, PS2, 360 and PS3. My Saturn library is huge as is my PS1, PS2 and Dreamcast libraries. My son had a graduation party today and I thought I would do what I used to do growing up…throw a video game tournament. Warzone #2 – The Metal Gear Solid Show

In this weeks episode we have a special guest, Ian Johnson. He’s an avid ‘True Gamer’ and Metal Gear fan going all the way back to the original MSX game. He’s here to tell us why MGS4 is so important to gamers, the industry and the series.  After talking with Ian, we can’t see how anyone wouldn’t want to play Metal Gear Solid 4.  Other highlights include:

  • Will MGS4 break records and make an impact on the industry?
  • Torrence Davis talks about the Japanese Ninja Gaiden 2 demo and how amazing it really is
  • We compare the PS3 to the Sega Saturn in terms of it’s development difficulty curve
  • Torrence and Hiphopgamer debate whether or not a Blu-Ray add-on for the 360 would be a hot item
  • A new fanboy is awarded the Fanboy Of The Week award and he’s one of N4G’s finest

* Audio is low in the beginning for Ian Johnson.  Turn up the speakers.

If you have questions and want them aired, please let us know.  We are always looking for listener input.  Enjoy the show!
