Lady Gaga Comes To Rock Band Next Week

LadyGaga-01-big

What can I say, other than, It’s about time? My RB friends live and die by the exclusives that make the Rock Band experience different from other band games. I can see everyone with the game downloading this new music pack when it debuts.

The people that I know, who play RB on an almost daily practice, love to download music for the game, regardless of genre. I personally can’t get into the music games nor do I have the space for a ton of plastic instruments. Hit up the break to get prices, release dates and other Rock Band related news.

Breaking News: New PSP Engine Released To Devs

sony-psp-slim-news

I’m here today with a small but very important news announcement for PSP fans. The PSP has had a rough time since birth, we all can admit that, but, with the one nub analog and very few games that really utilize the PSP’s online capabilities, Sony hopes to change that with the introduction of the “PhyreEngine for PSP”. Let’s just wait and see when and what we’ll see from game developers once the new engine is implemented into a retail Triple A product.

“We’re very happy to see the continued popularity of PhyreEngine with the global game developer community,” said Teiji Yutaka, Senior Vice President, Technology Platform of SCEI. “PhyreEngine for PSP was developed in response to requests from the game developer community, and we hope that the release of the PSP version demonstrates our commitment and support for game developers on all our platforms.”

SCE will deploy various measures to further reinforce game development for the PSP system and will continue to expand the platform to offer interactive entertainment experiences only available on the PSP system.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Borderlands DLC: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx Review

Gearbox Software’s sleeper hit Borderlands was released in late 2009 and was well received. To date, I have put countless hours into this game and loved every minute of it. If I were to make a list of games this generation that I was a fan of and consider staple games, Borderlands would make said list with no problems. I then checked email last Tuesday to find 2 redeem codes for the latest Borderlands DLC; The Secret Armory of General Knoxx (What shall I do with the extra I wonder?). This DLC includes a lot and takes up the hard disk drive space to show it (clocking in at about 1.7 GB). Here are the contents of this DLC: Read the rest of this entry »

PSN Looks To Be Working Again For All – Update

ps3-phat-60gb

The leap year bug that has kept many PS3 Phat’s from connecting to the PSN looks to be all fixed now. There is no official statement from the Sony Blog yet but I tested the rumor out with my 60GB Phat, I have connected to the PSN and set my clock via the internet. You may have lost some trophies you worked on over the last couple days but other than that I haven’t heard about any lasting damage. I will update when I get official word from Sony.

Update: Sony has given official word that the PSN leap year bug has been fixed!

The Original 2D Classic Mega Man Returns In Mega Man 10 for WiiWare, XBL And PSN

300dpi_(medium)_-_MM10_MIDDLE_Cover_NO_BLEED

Capcom is on a roll, utilizing all major platforms’ online stores. For the retro gamer downloadable classic games are a godsend. I for one am an avid old school collector with purchases of Myst for the SEGA CD, Raiden for the Atari Jaguar and 007 Golden Eye for the N64 just last week.

I have mixed feelings about buying an “only downloadable” retro classic, but can appreciate the fact that now all gamers can relive the old games of a once innocent past in video game history.

I personally own all of the classic game consoles dating back to the 8-Bit era, so no matter how exact a classic game is rereleased on current platforms it still doesn’t feel the same with out playing on the original console and controller. This is just am opinion of a veteran gamer and big time collector, but in the bigger scope of things, I can appreciate the fact that gamers get another shot at playing some of video games greatest games and remembering our gaming heritage.

Latest Info On PSN Status Via PlayStation Blog – Update

As I’m sure many of you have noticed the PSN is having issues. If you haven’t heard yet and you are a proud owner of a PS3 Phat, DO NOT TURN IT ON! There are a number of issues that the PSN is actually creating on Phat consoles themselves so you would be well advised to leave your system off. If you are running a new slim model you should be fine to turn your system on and play. Sony says they should have the issues corrected within 24 hours but recommends you leave your PS3 Phats powered off.

Update:
The issue looks like it’s a firmware issue dealing with Phat PS3 dealing with its internal clock. The firmware has slight differences for the different form factors; e.g. Linux, HDMI control. Even if your PS3 is not connected to the network the clock will change to 12/31/1999 and you will have issues with games that support trophies. Sony says they have “narrowed down the issue and have engineers working to restore service even as you read this.”

I will keep you posted!
