Split/Second Release Date, Box Art & New Screens

Disney Interactive Studios announced that Split/Second, the action racing game from Black Rock Studio, will be released in North America on Tuesday, May 18th. The European release date is May 21th. Set within the world of a fictional reality TV show, Split/Second players don’t just try to race to the finish line – they trigger explosive events that alter the track to take out opponents or create short cuts.
Split/Second is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older. The game will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. Split/Second has a ESRP of $59.99 for Xbox 360 and PS3 and $49.99 for Windows PC. From what I saw of this game at last year’s E3, it has vast potential. Even I, who prefers simulation racers was wowed. The last “arcadey” racing game I was captivated by was Project Gotham Racing 2 on Xbox Live via the original Xbox. This game is looking to fill that void for me. Check out these screenshots and see for yourself: Read the rest of this entry »
PC Incoming: 2010 Will Be Great For The PC Gamer
I’ve compiled a list of all ready released or upcoming PC titles releasing this year, some games are exclusive to the PC platform while other games will release on one or more home consoles.
I feel sometimes, that after the consoles started to pull more gamers into the video game fold, we’ve really forgotten that the grand daddy gaming platform is the personal computer.
As long as people continue to buy PC games, their will always be people/publishers making games
for the windows platform. Check out my release list of Exclusive and Multi-Platform PC titles coming out this year after the break.
Final Fantasy XIV Beta Starts March 11th

Today Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV, the second MMO ever released in the Final Fantasy series, will have it’s closed beta begin on March 11th. The beta is currently for PC only, but expect a PS3 beta to come eventually. The beta will begin with a small group from the applications that Square took in December. Over time the beta will expand and more applicants will be plucked to join the beta.
The game is currently set for a 2010 release on PC and PS3. Expect more news on Final Fantasy XIV at this year’s E3.
Sid Meier’s Civilization V New Video Trailer And Screens
This game speaks so deeply to me, when I think of the Civilization franchise I think Windows PC gaming and countless hours I’ve spent playing Civilization II.
At the time I bought my first so called rig, but it was a Compaq Presario with 4x AGP graphics with 256MB 3DFX GPU, 2GB ram, 1280×1024 max CRT and a EAX surround sound. Not much power compared to the current computers but I was able to max out the game.
Now we’ve come full circle and Civ V is here and ready for our rigs to be tested. You know the routine hit the break…
New Mass Effect 2 DLC – Firewalker Pack

With the first Mass Effect game, Bioware promised an abundance of DLC. What fans got instead were DLC that were few in number horribly spaced. It is sad too because for a game like Mass Effect, the potential for great DLC integration is endless. With Mass Effect 2, I guess the message got through. There has already been more DLC than in the first game and Bioware is showing no signs of slowing down. They have announced The Firewalker Pack. Here is the good word straight from Bioware: Read the rest of this entry »
How Not To Be A Noob At Battlefield Bad Company 2

Bioshock 2 DLC images from 2K Games
New single player and multiplayer additions enrich the Rapture experience by adding a wealth of new content and features

Bioshock 2 DLC Announced

After being out for two weeks, 2K wants to keep the Bioshock 2 money train rolling with some DLC. Below is the press release explaining the content which is expected to come out in March for $4.99 on PSN and XBL. The content is fine for the price, considering how other companies operate DLC nowadays, but I think we are getting to the point where they purposely leave out basic stuff so they can sell it as DLC. I know it’s been happening this entire generation, but now it seems to be more like the norm and not the exception.
The cool things is that in future months they will also be releasing DLC to expand the single player. I think we can all agree that the best DLC’s are usually the ones that add on to the single player (Fallout/GTA).
New York, NY – February 22, 2010 – 2K Games announced today an aggressive post-launch downloadable content plan for BioShock2 that extends and enhances the single and multiplayer experiences by adding more glimpses into the award-winning world of Rapture. Downloadable content will be made available soon beginning with the Sinclair Solutions Test Pack, available this March from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows-LIVE for 400 Microsoft Points and from the PlayStationNetwork for $4.99. Future expansions into the world of BioShock 2 are slated to arrive over the coming months and will continue to expand on the stories of the denizens of Rapture.
“The fans who waited in the snow, rain and cold for the midnight launch of BioShock 2 have spoken and their message is that Rapture still has many fascinating stories to tell,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Downloadable content is a key part of our efforts to continue to entice the fans that have made 2K a household name – we intend to deliver single and multiplayer content that respects and expands upon one of the greatest fictional worlds ever created.”
Sinclair Solutions Test Pack, the first of several planned downloadable packages, contains a number of customization features that will allow players to further their character’s development in BioShock 2’s multiplayer modes and provide a deeper multiplayer experience. The pack includes:
* Rank Increase to level 50 with Rank Rewards
* New playable characters Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca
* 20 new trials*
* A third weapon upgrade for each weapon
* Five additional masks**Some items are only available after a player achieves a rank of 41 or higher.
In the coming months, 2K Games will also be publishing downloadable extensions of the single player experience that provide new insight into the world of Rapture. These packages will include more narrative, new tools and new challenges that extend the lore and fiction of the failed Utopia under the sea.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 Limited Edition Goodness

Today, we received the finalized box art for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition. The game which is due out early next month for the PS3, 360, and PC has gamers excited for it’s release. Not only fans are excited, but even people who work on the game. Along with the boxart, we also got a little message from someone working on the game who shared their excitement with the title and it’s upcoming release….
I know I’m working on Bad Company 2, so I gotta upsell it, but damn, it’s the first game in a while that I’m legitimately excited about. Looking forward to the weekend just so I can jump back in to the demo (it’s been 4 days since I last played and I’m going through withdrawl).
The Limited Edition of the game comes with DLC codes for weapon upgrades, vehicle upgrades, and World War II weapons. The limited edition is only selling for $60, so basically you are getting the limited edition for the same price as what many games would consider the standard edition price.
Napoleon: Total War Hits Shelves February 23
After many months of reporting on Napoleon: TW, the date is now official and with that comes a stream on information from new screens, video, and a press release. I’ve seen a spike of interest on the net for this game from SEGA. What we can see so far is that the PC Gamers will have plenty of Triple A titles including some exclusives this year, continue on after the break for all the goods.
DX11 Feature Set And 3D Vision Support For METRO 2033 On PC (Screens)
Today with high definition consoles being the standard in HD graphics, some gamers forget that the only platform to offer higher than 1080p visuals is the Windows PC. With resolutions of 1920×1200 16×10 becoming the lowest standard resolution and support for even higher resolutions, the PC gamer with the proper setup can achieve some amazing eye candy.
I have a treat for the graphics whore in all of us, whether we admit it or not. Unfortunately these screens are direct from the PC version not the Xbox 360 console so please don’t expect these graphics on the 360.
Microsoft Game Studio Release Match Defense: Toy Soldiers Facebook (App) Game
I won’t get to into how amazingly addictive this game is for the Facebook platform. But, what I’ll tell you is that the Facebook App (Game) is really the type of game that I’ve been waiting for on Facebook. Forget planting crops or decorating a house, give me cannons, tanks and soldiers, with rewards for wining and coming soon, Xbox Live! integration. Hit the break for the link and a couple of screens.
BFBC2 To Be Fastest Downloaded DEMO In EA History
Well the verdict is in and according to EA’s press release, the Battlefield Bad Company 2 Demo is right on track to be the fastest downloaded Demo ever offered by EA. This really doesn’t come to much surprise if you’ve already downloaded the Demo.
From my Playstation friends to my Xbox 360 buddies, I haven’t heard anything but positive feedback from all who’ve played the Demo. Hit the break for the entire EA notice.
