Impressions: MLB09 Hits Home On Multiple Playstation Platforms
I find it truly amazing that the best baseball game ever made could get better. Yep, you read it right, MLB09 is better than last years jaw dropper. The laundry list for this years outing is incredible. Here are some of the new features:
- Wear and tear on the field
- Dusk to night lighting transitions
- Online leagues
- The ability to record your voice and add it to the crowd noise(Best feature ever in a sports game)
- Enhanced custom MLB music tracks
- Walk up music for each player
I’m kind of dissappointed because I haven’t finished my MLB08 season yet and with the feature set in this game, I might have to just put 08 down and jump on 09! Not only did 08 have the best graphics in a baseball game, the entire feature set and franchise mode are also the best I’ve seen. They enhanced those as well with the new game. Of course you now get native 1080p/60fps graphics to boot. Enjoy the trailer and look for screenshots and coverage of the PS2 and PSP versions in the next couple of days.
Impressions: Legend of Princess
Legend of Princess, the artistic Zelda inspired indy action-based game from developers Konjak, was fully released out to the public for free and will give you a quick fix while you wait for the next Legend of Zelda title from Nintendo. The similarities between the two games are noticeable, but it was very well done, while maintaining it’s own 2D style. Read the rest of this entry »
Impressions: Loco Roco 2

I’ve had plenty of time to check out the new Loco Roco 2 build for the PSP. The game takes everything that made the first one great and makes it better. Clever level design, funny characters and one of the most infectious soundtracks I’ve ever heard are the recipe for Loco Roco 2. Read the rest of this entry »

Preview: NBA 09 – The Inside (PSP)
I haven’t played a handheld basketball game since NBA JAM days on the Game Gear. I usually stick with the big brother versions on the game consoles. So when I was asked to preview NBA 09 for the PSP, it was a nice surprise. Let me start by saying there is a lot of content in this game. So many modes and extras, it isn’t funny. The game feels like an arcade style b-ball game with a touch of simulation for the hardcore fans. Unlike the PS3 version that features “The Life†mode, the PSP version has omitted this feature. Instead we get a meaty Franchise mode that has been revamped from last year’s version. It also includes Quick Play, Exhibition, Playoffs, Practice, All-Star Weekend (skills challenge, 3pt contest, all-star game, etc.) and Block Party (Carnival Games, Team Games, Solo Games, Pinball and Quests). Just the Block Party portion alone will keep you busy for hours. Read the rest of this entry »
Drunken Gamer: Chapter 1
From the tip of my bottle to the bottom of my glass, I often times sit and reminisce the good ol’ days of gaming. Not just about how companies marketed poorly back in those days, but the progress of where games have come from and where they’re headed. What is the future of gaming? Would we even call it gaming in the near future? When we’re in our 60s and the grandchildren are playing the PS9, what stories could we tell them of the old days and how informative would we be about it? In this day and age of the “console wars”, you gotta think that perhaps somewhere down the line it just won’t fucking matter about graphics. Read the rest of this entry »
