Games Com 2009 Report

It all went by so fast, but the experience is ever lasting. This year’s Games Com was amazing with all the hyped up games and sneak peeks at next year titles as well. Although I’m picky when it comes to purchasing games, the titles coming out this year and next will have my wallet crying.

My First Press Event!

Please let me take you on my first journey into the world of video game press events. Today August 5th, 2009, I was invited by Torrence Davis from our website, thebitbag.com, to join him and The Hip Hop Gamer at a press event that was being held by Deep Silver. Now, this is my first “Industry” event and I was a bit nervous because well…I was, and that’s about it. I was nervous of just about everything but to the high praise of Deep Silver, the people at the event where truly nice and very cool. Here’s the full Story: Read the rest of this entry »

Resident Evil 5 Midnight Launch Event “March Of The Living Dead” A Disappointment?

Tonight STFUandPlay.com staff went out to our local GameStop to check out the Resident Evil 5 midnight launch event.  Gamestop had an ad campaign asking customers to come to each launch location dressed up as zombies.  Passing out fliers to customers and people that had pre-ordered. We thought this would be a very interesting and fun concept and just had to see it for ourselves.  Days prior to the event this location had said they had great feedback from customers that pre-ordered the game and were expecting quite a few “zombies”.

From what we saw the event was a huge flop, and it is unfortunate too because I thought this was actually a cool idea by Gamestop.  Personally I am not a Gamestop fan, but I thought seeing a few dozen people dressed and acting like zombies walking around a mall would have been cool to film.  The event was a total failure in our eyes, some of our other contacts that visited other launch locations had similar news to report. Dead. And no not zombies, just nobody.  Read More -STFUandPlay.com

SF IV Launch Event

It’s been a long time. What brought me out of hibernation? SFIV. Here are some pics. Saw Bai Ling there. Ran into Aaron Greenburg who had much love for HipHop. Also, ran into Rob Welkner from Coin-Op TV. I got into the VIP area too late and missed Levar Burton. Check out more event pics after the break.

QuakeCon 2008 Details Released

id Software is sending out a reminder that QuakeCon is just a few weeks after E3. Too bad they won’t be at E3. QuakeCon will be the first opportunity to check out the free online FPS for PC: Quake Live. This will also be the first year that the Xbox 360 will be featured in competition with the recently released Quake Wars title. Last, but not least, Alienware is sponsoring a Quick-Draw challenge as well, which is the one thing at this event that does not seem to require skill. Read the rest of this entry »
